psa fluctuation on taxotere

I started my 3rd round of taxotere yesterday and they tested my psa . Before the chemo I have 3 rounds of SBRT which dropped my psa from 60 to 16. After my 1st round of chemo my psa dropped from 16 to 13,4 yesterday my psa was back up to 15.1. Should I be panicking that the chemo is not working. Or has anyone had a fluctuation while on chemo. Am I not giving the chemo enough time to work . I thought it should be dropping not having an increase . Has anyone experienced this and still had positive results? Also my alt phosphate dropped yesterday down to 124 where it had been as high as 480.It was 154 after my first chemo. I would appreciate any input I am worried I am going this chemo for nothing. Or am I jumping the gun. Thanks

My MO was against testing PSA etc. until after #3. Earlier results were so influenced by dying cancer as to be meaningless. Stay the course and follow from here on.. Should start seeing steady reduction. If not adding Zytiga/Xtandi during chemo works.

Being concerned and anxious at PSA time is something we all live with... My PSA and alk phos have been climbing slowly since Nov last year and MO has set me up with monthly blood tests instead of every 3 mo. Concerned/anxious--Yes...panicked--No.

Dying cancer cells release PSA.

Trust oncology with these decisions They wouldnt recommend a treatment such as chemo unless they deemed it necessary

I have heard of PSA bumps during and after chemo in some cases only to settle down to undetectable levels

They will stop if they believe it is fruitless to continue in that direction

There are still options they will resort too

Stay positive

Trust the process
