Hi my hubby has been on xtandi for 18 months. Its been failing since july 2020 with psa rising slowly. Psa was at 8.1 at Christmas and earlier this month onc decided to start jevanta in march. Scans were ordered and today scans showed no progress and psa had dropped to 3.1. Now the onc has decided to postpone chemo for now. Im totally confused now and im not sure if i trust psa result. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I have no explanation but the same observation. Whenever I schedule a PET/CT or plan a treatment, my PSA value stops to increase in advance of that and now it even went down a bit. I tell my wife, its just as if the tumor wants to tell me: "cool it, I did not mean that"

PSA is just a biomarker. It's the imaging that tells you what the cancer is doing.

Hi Tall AllenIn that case ..that psa is bio marker and scans are important how does onc decide xtandi is failing? Scans have stayed stable for months now but onc has determined xtandi is failing as psa is rising.

Thank you for your replies.

It is always a good idea to confirm with scans.
