My husband has to go for a bone scan!! He has had a little up tick in his psa. Oncologist doesn’t seemed concerned. He has been on Zytiga since Sept. the lowest his psa has come down it to 13.3. The last week he has been aching in different areas. 😩😩. As I have mentioned in the past he is castrate resistant and has the CDK12 mutation. They want to try him on Lymparza not sure the spelling. Any thoughts or suggestions? How is this drug? Does it have lots of drawbacks? I hope this is the best drug of choice for him.

Be more concerned about the rises in his PSA. I had a PSA reading of 8.5 for 4 years.

Lymparza is used when BRCAor ATM gene mutations are found in a Pca patient. Has he been tested for genetic abnormalities?

Yes he has the CDK12 mutation. That’s what his Oncologist wants him to try!!

Lymparza is used for CDK12 mutation also. I was checked for gene mutations also, none found. My research doctor said he has not found any mutations in any of his patients.

What oth drugs or treatments has he been on.

So far just Zytiga. Do you have the CDK 12 mutation as well?

I was tested with both bone and prostate tissues, no mutations.

So you still have lots of options, casodex, xtandi, etc.

Lynparza is a very interesting new proposition for PCa patients with mutations. It´s a socalled PARP-inhibitor, which makes it very difficult for cancer cells to divide when the mutation is present. That´s a whole new way of attacking the disease. Being castrate resistant this is definitely the way to go. I think we will see a lot of that type of treatments the coming years.

My father has the CDK12 mutation and has liver mets. He took Lymparza for 2 months with severe side effects and did not work. He is now on Keytruda plus Cabozantinib, and his PSA has decreased from 77 to 20 with the liver tumors receding.

Is Keytruda A form of immunotherapy and also what’s the other drug he is on

To answer your question Keytruda is immunotherapy.... I am taking it for my Lung Melanoma (not related to my Pca) and it is working.
