Has anyone experienced a significant decrease in PSA on Zytiga and then an increase

My father has been on Zytiga for 6 weeks. He has been feeling great and active. His initial PSA was 98 and after being on Zytiga for 2 weeks it significantly decreased to 59.

Today he went in to his MO and it went up slightly by 6 points...

We have no plans to have him stop taking it for now till we see what’s going on with his nodes and bone Mets.. He will be scheduled for a bone scan and CT next week.

Has anyone experience a PSA roller coaster on zytiga?

some guys here have said their Onco's explained that when the cancel cells are dying from Zytiga they release more PSA...if the PSA keeps going up month after month then you have a problem

My dad´s MO told us "PSA increases for many reasons". Only one increment may mean nothing.

I know but same thing happened on Xtandi and with chemo ... that’s why I’m worried, especially because it dropped drastically after 13 days..

I understand very well your concern. I feel so worried every time we are waiting for psa results. Be confident!

Psa can go up and then back down on any of these medications, Another psa may be down. I will say a prayer that it will continue down, or at very least remain stable.

Hi,

My dad is on Zytiga since Aug. 2017. His PSA dropped from 3.8 to 0.5 in the first month and increased to 2.4 in the second month. It kept constant for another 6 months until he got RT on bone mets. His PSA dropped to 0.7 after the RT.

So I think this kind of wavy response is possible.

Best wishes to you and your dad

Thank you.. we are keeping our prayers that it goes down. It’s at 65 now

the docs say once u start zytiga there is a period of time when it works but it does jump up and then back down. starting a new treatment called provenge remember all meds will work for some time, me my psa is 31, and i've been dealing with this problem for the past 10 yrs so i feel pretty happy from my treatments and the positive results from doing the correct meds for it.

My PSA in May was 1,044. yes, over a thousand. In July it was 913. after 30 days on Zytiga it showed up as 29.

Wow--how encouraging! I am at 454 and on day 3 of Zytiga after Xtandi failure, plus already on Lupron, prednisone, and Xgeva. What was the earliest time your PSA decreased on Zytiga?
