I've tried to find information on the web, but came up blank. What have you all seen? My MO suggested taking it only every 3 months, so I've already crossed that bridge. Realistically, will I be on it till the end?

Once I start Xgeva will I ever be able stop taking it?
You may want to listen to this:

He makes a few good points:
Don't take it less frequently than monthly
Have a DEXA scan first - don't take it unless you have osteoporosis
Take a break after 3 years - monitor bone health closely while on break
Thanks
I'm only 3 months into ADT this go around, but had a DEXA about a year ago just to set a benchmark due to my initial Lupron/Casodex treatments. It wasn't too bad. I'll ask my MO to see how long should I wait to run another one.
I watched the video and they make it pretty clear that a monthly dosage is preferred, yet Dr. Scholz specifically stated to me that every 3 months would be sufficient. I will bring this topic up with him during our next consult. Thanks TA
Hey V10! I’m on
Prolia for osteopenia. My mo first told me I’d be on It for just 4 x 6 months shots then done. Truth is I think that it’s helped my hip pains. Now I see others posting that once we start you can’t stop it due to bad stuff if we do .? I Think that prolia is a watered down Xgeva ... dammed if we do, damed if we don’t .. what a gig brother?
What "bad stuff"? That's what I'm trying to learn more about.
With prolia it’s said if you stop it you will get bone fractures for sure. I’m On it . Holding on for mercy. My wife didn’t want me to do it. Neither does the naturalpathic like it . But I’m already aboard the train .. Whoohoo!! All aboard!!😷
I've been on it for close to three years off and on. My Doctor took me off of it during the first year due to low Calcium levels the first time and I'm off of it now because I had some extensive oral surgery done and he said I'm better off on a vacation from it while healing. I'm due back early October when they will resume again. I guess for me at least intermittent treatment was fine. Leo
This is from their website- "After your treatment with XGEVA® is stopped, your risk for breaking bones in your spine can increase, especially if you have a history of risk factors such as osteoporosis or prior fractures."
Wonderful....
Nice 😷
I met with my MO and he said that he normally keeps his patients on it no longer than 5 years.
