My PSA In Jan was 0.01 then in April it had shot up to 0.2 my PSA doubling time before Chemo was 4 to 5 weeks it has now only gone upto 0.3 thankfully is it normal to speed up then slow down, I have been on Zoladex for nearly 3yrs waiting on my next app with my Onc on the 22 to see what the next step would be, if it is only going to jump small amounts I may just wait another 6 months before changing treatment good idea or not ?.
Cheers

I am a big believer in milking a drug for all its worth. If your PSA goes to 2.0 then move to another treatment.
I agree with waiting until your PSA is over 2 before adding another treatment (probably Xtandi or Zytiga). Once your PSA is over 2 and goes up from there, that's when you are considered to be castrate resistant.
I had 4 doctors tell me they wouldn't put me on second line ADT (Xtandi or Zytiga) until castrate resistance because I had done early chemotherapy like you. With the slow speed of your PSA rise, it could be quite a while. I'd check it every 3 months though.
My PSA went up fairly quickly once it did start moving. My doctor said he often sees that with patients that have done early chemo.
Thanks for the replies guys, ill wait until my PSA goes to 2.0 & ask the Onc that as well she what she says, I have a blood test every 3 months anyway.
Hopefully will get another 6 to 12months before it gets to 2.0 and I have to move to something else.
I've been on Zoladex for almost 2 years. My PSA hit a nadir of 0.17 after chemo. It bounced around 0.25 for a while. It started rising again about 8 months ago. For the last 6 months it has been bouncing around 0.4. My oncologist says things are great and not to worry. My latest scans in April showed no progression during the previous year.
Best of luck. I hope you continue with good PSA tests for a long time.
