PSA rising during Chemotherapy.

All the pills and injections have now failed. I started Chemotherapy in March. I've had three sessions three weeks apart out of ten scheduled.

My question is my PSA. my first blood test after chemo was 4.02, the second was 4.28, now the third is 5.02.

I'm worried this is not working. Does anyone else have some experience with PSA rising during Chemo?

Consider Jevtana instead.

I looked that up. Pretty damn scary stuff on side effects. I have had two Chemo infusions for Carcinoid Syndrome in both lobes of my liver. Liver in scans they say looks weird.

Where am I TA? Where is this going do you think?

Side effects vary greatly. Some say the side effects of Jevtana are milder than Taxotere.

My doctor reminded me

During chemo the PSA is known to juggle up and down

Mine did

My last few however have reduced weekly

When diagnosed it was 13.5 it never rose above this during chemo it however dropped significantly and I was very happy

The following month it was a bit higher not lower as I expected

My last test it was 1,6

One session to go

The numbers game can result in frustration

So my best judge is how I feel

Pretty good to be honest

Thanks. As you see, mine have not toggled. They just climb. In fact, from my lowest of .131 in March of 2019, it has risen steadily EVERY month till now. I don't have any pain from the cancer, just bad symptoms from the medicine so far.

How are you doing now. I am seeing upticks in my PSA as well I just finished my 4th session of docetaxal PSA after 2nd went down to 2.7 now bounced up to 4.4 and now as of yesterday to 9.3. Very concerned, the last upticks resulted in 4 new Mets any thoughts.

Last Chemo session (my 5th) my PSA was 6.18. So it has doubled DURING chemo. Next session is in 10 days. ONC wasn't at last session but will meet me this session. They will probably want scans and I can tell more after that.

Yes. My husband had -psa 215 in 2019. 2019-2023 zytiga w/prednisone - psa 12.Zytiga stopped working in Jan. Psa 36.

Jan 2023 started Docetaxel 1st round psa 36

2nd round psa jumped to 45
