Quercetin & pca & coronavirus

I have been taking quercetin /bromelian 500/250, twice per day. There is strong evidence that this natural supplement will fight prostate cancer cells and also increase your immunity to the Coronavirus.

A canadian research institution and two renowned Drs. have been invited to start clinical trials with it in China. Also a Canadian family foundation has contributed a million dollars to the research.

I am sure some of our more informed members can share a clearer picture of this supplement, than I, but I am continuing to take it for protection for immunity to the virus and to kill cancer cells.

NOTE FROM YOUR MODERATOR

This is not to disparage anyone who is interested in quercetin or any other "this can prevent/cure/help Covid-19 and/or coronavirus nutraceutical BUT>>>> According to every doctor I've spoken to and all of the national health care websites, there is no medicine or food or herb or whathaveyou that can prevent or cure the Covid-19 coronavirus. There may be things you can eat or take over the counter that can ease symptoms. But for our "older male" community, the best thing you can do is self-isolate, wash hands and avoid touching body openings in your face and probably your penis (though I haven't found anyone talking about washing hands prior to masturbation). And, see your doctor as soon as you suspect something is up. There may indeed be something herb like that will prevent Covid-19, but, right now, no one on Earth can say that is true.

The info I posted is available on google and in the last three weeks quercetin has come to the forefront as a possible treatment. It was effective in SARS and Ebola.

Hey Dr. Phil!

Maybe--Nostradamus used rose hips --vitamin C--among other things in rose hips--to treat plague with some success.

Years ago I read that a Russian doctor, noted for research in prostate cancer treatment, advised bromelain as one of the supps to take with good results. I have taken bromelain and black pepper ever since. I have always heavily used pepper as a condiment.

May I ask the Brand (is it 2 different supplements), dosage you take and where you buy it? Thanks for all your ongoing, helpful info!!

The brand I purchased is Doctor"s Best from Amazon. It is in combination form. Also, please read Darryl post above.

I am happy with the fact that there is some possible benefit but it is untested. Also, there is some conflict between the supplement industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Doctors in general follow the tried and tested. As they should. For us, (PC victims) there could be a dual benefit.🍸🍸🤠

I took quercetin as a supplement for a few months because some blood work (done by a third party entity) showed that it did indeed fight SOME types of PCa cancer cells. I stopped because my results were favorable and I got to undetectable for a period of about 8 months.

I'm on an ADT vacation now and hope that it could be permanent. Time will tell, but I would take quercetin again if my PCa continues to be castrate sensitive.

Take it if you are so inclined. Probably no harm in that as far as I know. But there is no evidence that it has any impact on susceptibility to or aid recovery from the novel corona virus disease COVID-19. Anyone claiming that it is scientifically supported is fabricating the claim. The testing (controlled experiment or study) has not been done.

It is best not to propagate such claims, especially in times of such panic as we are seeing. Protect yourself and maximize your overall immunity with good nutrition, hydration, rest and stress reduction.

Mateo, I think you have not read the Canadian article, nor Darryl's reponse above. I responded to him and agreed. I also made the point that some of us are taking Quercetin/Bromelian already so we maybe getting a twofer. So don't get uptight and let each one of use determine our own needs and wants. I have no financial interest in this product and as I said above I am only passing on the info. Each to his own.🍸🍸🤠

I have followed the research on Quercetin since 2009 and began taking it at that time in my regimen of antioxidants/anti-inflammatories that showed activity against prostate cancer. So I am entirely onboard with that choice. I am just objecting to the unsupported leap to this specific novel corona virus disease that has the whole world in a panic right now. Clarity and quality information is more important on this site and elsewhere at this time.

That said, anything that supports your optimal nutrition and immune function seems like a very good idea. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Hello Guys, let me through light on the Convid 19 and Quercetin. There is an in-vitro published evidence that zinc is able to inhibit the replication of Convid 19 and eventually shut it down. The challenge is zince is an ion, its 2 plus ion and ions can not get through into a cell membrane unless there is an ionophore ( literally a transporter) to convey it into the cell. Quercetin has an ionophore properties (as see in ebola and zika cases) and therefore able to transport zinc into the Convid 19 membrane. The ionophor property of quercetin is well documented but the challenge is the right dosage that will give the needed result and that is what currently the Canadian Researchers are doing in China. So the role of quercetin is to transporter the zinc into the Convid 19 cell membrane and the role of the zinc is to inhibit/slow down the replication of the virus and eventually shut it down.

So those already taking quercetin, please make sure you are not zinc deficient!

Tomorrow is definitely brighter and surely we can overcome the epidemic and bring life to normalcy.

I hope it is helpful

Right on Enobella. Another ionophere is chloroquine used for years in treating malaria but now being used in China and Korea to enable Zinc an ion to enter the corona virus and inhibit replication. Quercetin or chloroquine are not preventives but a therapeutic to be taken if you have the virus including influenza. Again not FDA tested but since being used in the above countries the curve has been reduced.

For covid-19 help, any idea on quantity of zinc to take? I'm currently on 1 tablet of 250mg quercitin with 500mg vit c. Thinking of upping to 2 tablets daily (as per label). I couldn't get any zinc lozenges so crushed 15mg tablet and mixed with some jelly to get into the throat!

It may not be their job to specifically prevent or cure the condition. But what they are know to do is support healthy immunity and reduce inflammatory factors in the body, among numerous other benefits.
