Treatment options for 82 year old

My father who is hormone resistant had the go ahead for Radium 223, but has only been able to have 1 injection as his white blood cells and platelets are too low to continue currently.

He feels like it has made things worse, am wondering how long this could affect his levels? Worrying with the current situation regarding corona.

What are his options now?

We are in the UK so Provenge isn't on the NHS but wonder if this may be the only option to consider as he would most likely have the same issues if he undertook chemo?

Thanks

What ADT drugs has your father been on that make him castrate resistant?

He can still get Provenge.

I assume one would have to travel to the US to get Provenge. Do you know where it is available and how much would it cost a non-citizen? Also how long would you have to stay in the country for the treatment? Thanks

If you are paying out of pocket, it's around $100K or roughly $25K per month of median life extension. I believe there are assistance programs available to help with cost.

Here's a link to find centers and get questions answered.

It involves removing one's own dendritic cells (leukapheresis - which takes about 3 hours), and they treat your cells in their labs and reinfuse them into you about a week later. That out-and-in process is repeated 3 times.

Has he had either Zytiga or Xtandi? These are second-line ADT drugs that usually work after castrate resistance. What are his WBCs and Platelets?
