Treatment Options for Gynecomastia

I have been on Lupron/Eligard since November 2018 with a nine month and a one year break. Gynecomastia (breast enlargement) has not been a serious problem until now. During the last six months gynecomastia getting worse even during ADT break. I just restarted my Lupron shot a week ago. I have also been on Casodex for the last one month, which made the problem worse.

What are treatment options for gynecomastia. My oncologist mentioned surgery. Would that be a temporary solution because I need to continue taking Lupron?

This article has info about treatment. Medical treatment could be with tamoxifen.

Long story short, apart from Zoladex (similar to Lupron) I had to take Casodex for almost a year. My oncologist prescribed tamoxifen daily. The sooner that you start on it the better. It stopped the pain and discomfort for me quite quickly and prevented any progression of the gyneacomastia. The other option could be radiation to the nipple area, but my oncologist wasn’t keen on that for me.

10 mg/day tamoxifen to prevent it, 20 mg/day to reverse it. Email this link to your doctor:

If he is worried about blood clots, tamoxifen is now available as a transdermal preparation from a compounding pharmacy that won't cause blood clots.

I have gynecomastia that shows through my shirts. It's embarrassing . Are there any newer studies for treatment other than surgery???

It depends on how long you've had it. To reverse it requires 20 mg/day tamoxifen.

Surgery is a permanent solution.

I had radiation to the breast buds but before ( like 10 mins before) my first HT injection. No pain or problems. Why isn’t this offered to all? I’ve had no issues but not sure if it works after it’s begun.

I have been lifting at the gym concentrating on chest area, mine have shrunk considerable and assume will be gone in 6 months. I have two female friends that monitor this as they love to tease me
