LDH level during docataxel

Normal range is 120 to 240. LDH was in the high normal ( 230) prior to chemotherapy.

Only 6 chemo sessions as MO suggested stopping after the 6th due to a real bad case of lymphedema in both legs and one arm ( the worse he has seen and after 2 months, it is not healed).

Here are the LDH level after starting chemotherapy:

268, 286, 311, 299, and 315 (on Jan 16, 2019)

Note- December 23rd was 299 LDH and last chemo was December 3, 2019

Is 315 LDH a concern? Will it get back to the normal range eventually? I am wondering if there is damaged to the tissue thus causing lymphedema..Any thoughts?

Also, just prior to the last chemo on December 3rd, PSA was 13.1, then 11.7 on December 23rd and 9.87 on January 26, 2020 so it seems like PSA is still dropping a bit. Is it wishful thinking that PSA may still drop a bit more due to the after effect of chemo?

Purple,

When cancer cells die fast due to Chemo, a chunk of PSA is released in blood..giving a temporary upswing in PSA which eventually falls steadily if treatment is successful.

LDH is an indicator of degree of inflammation and extent of liver/tissue injury.

LDH of 315 is not good but hopefully it will start falling as body heals...keep a close eye on CRP and LDH.

Is CRP the creatinine measurement serum? If it is, normal range is .6 to 1.3.

Here are the numbers

Last Chemo on December 3rd

December 23rd - .8

January 16th - .6

Also, ALT and Alkaline Phosophate is in normal range. AST at 36, so just a little above normal

No liver damage. All the blood results are normal.

Could it be some tissue damage causing lymphedema?

No..CRP is NOT Serum Creatinine.

Serum Creatinine is a measure of how your Kidneys are functioning . Your S .Creatinine is below 1 so your kidneys seem fine.

Serum CRP means C-Reactive Protein which measures degree of Inflammation in your body due to any cause. CRP less than 3 is desirable but lower the better.

Keeping CRP low by diet and supplements can slow cancer progression. Research Anti Inflammatory foods and herbs/spices/Roots.

LDH is not as big a concern as AST and ALT. PSA is just one biomarker. Remember, you are trying to treat the cancer, not the PSA.

MO advised to stop monitoring LDH during chemotherapy, no point as it's marred by the treatment and its side-effects. Once you finish chemo we will resume.

Jan 16, 2020

AST -36

ALT - 20

Alkaline Phosphatase -79
