For newer members of this site, I thought this would be something worth considering in your diet/supplement plan. I have coronary artery disease and stents so heart health is as important to me as fighting the cancer. I take 90 IU per day (45 with my vit D3 in the morning and 45 IU with my D3 at night). I also eat about 1oz of 1000 days aged gouda daily (about 20IU of K2). I stopped taking calcium tabs last year when reading about K2 studies. Comments are welcomed. By the way, Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2 are two different vitamins and affect the body differently. K1 promotes blood clotting and K2 does not.
"This meta-analysis indicates that Vitamin K Antagonists [ie, medicines that block Vitamin K} use may be associated with a decreased risk of prostate cancer, especially in long-term users."
"dietary intakes of phylloquinone, menaquinones, and total vitamin K were not significantly associated with the risk of advanced, nonadvanced, and total prostate cancer. "
"We observed a nonsignificant inverse association between total prostate cancer and total menaquinone intake [multivariate relative risk (highest compared with lowest quartile)"
I started taking MK-7 in the past year because it was recommended by my GP for general health, and because it seems to be good for bone health which I took an interest in now that my ribs are cancer condos. Really can't tell if it's doing anything for the cancer. Let's see if I'm still here a decade from now.
