I recently asked a holistic doctor about taking Vitamin K2 supplements, which he recommended 45mcg daily but what he strongly recommended was chelated vit. C drips of about 20 sessions. I think the idea is to remove heavy metals from my body.
Does anyone know whether this helps and whether it helps with advanced prostate cancer patients?
thanks,
George

I have known of quite a number of men who tried IV-C. Most often they reached a point where they just were not willing to spend more money on it. Some would have continued had it been cheaper.
Ultimately, vitamin C did not save Linus Pauling from PCa, although he did live to be 93.
There are over 3 million men currently alive in the U.S. who once had a PCa diagnosis. Where is the IV-C buzz? Or any buzz? Why are they keeping so quiet about helpful therapies?
I think it's interesting that ascorbic acid acts as a pro-oxidant when given IV but an anti-oxidant when given orally. The hope is that it will increase apoptosis and cancer-cell killing by helping to generate more DNA-destroying reactive oxygen species. I wouldn't use it outside of a carefully watched clinical trial. Maybe you can get in on this one where it is combined with docetaxel:
it is a total crock as are ALL of the various cures etc. that these bastards try to make money off the back so those suffering. If there was a cure or even some long term drug or combo therein that would keep us alive, it would out there!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop looking for the magic pill that does not exist, start to live large, make a bucket list and get on with spending as much quality time as you can wit those you love!!!!
If I live to be 93 it will be a victory over PCa, no matter what it says on my death certificate!
The ability of high dose IV administered vitamin C to produce hydrogen peroxide in serum and cells is well documented. Most cancer cells are profoundly deficient in the enzyme catalase, which healthy cells use to catalyze the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. It is a very important enzyme in protecting the cell from oxidative damage by reactive oxygen species.
Elevating hydrogen peroxide in catalase-deficient cancer cells kills them. This has been extensively studied in vitro (test tubes and petri dishes) and most but not all cancer cell lines are susceptible.
There are no large scale clinical trials of high dose vitamin C for treating cancer, and it is unlikely that there will ever be. There is no profit to support such an expensive undertaking.
There are large scale, long-running trials of IV-C as an adjunct to conventional cancer treatments. Google Dr. Jeanne Drisko. She has documented a number of beneficial effects, but won't treat patients unless they are also taking conventional treatments.
One thing that has been conclusively proved is that IV-C is extremely safe. Over 1 million IVs were administered with zero significant adverse events. There are very few medical procedures with such good safety records.
So the theory and data both suggest that IV-C will kill at least some cancer cells while not harming healthy cells. The serum levels that are achievable with properly administered IV-C have been shown in lab studies to be high enough to produce the cancer killing effects.
It is not a miracle cure for PCa or I wouldn't be spending time here, but I've been doing IV-C for years. I think it helps but the n=1 problem means I can't prove that. Being 11 years into this journey while still completely asymptomatic suggests I'm either very lucky or doing something right. But it can't prove that IV-C is a contributing factor.
The only harm it does is time and money. That's a personal choice.
FCoffey, have you been on Lupron etc? What was your gleason score and PSA doubling time when not on the Lupron? Just curious, how much is the IV-C for 20 sessions? How often would someone do it, on 20 session grouping annually? Not sure I'll do it but just curious. thx,
I've been on Lupron. Gleason 3+4, doubling time 22-30 months before Lupron.
IV-C prices range from $150 to $200 per session. Some facilities sell packages of 10 or 20, I don't know those prices.
I've been at clinics where IV-C is administered every other day. Usually I aim for once a week but travel and other interruptions mean I typically get 2-3 per month.
Thanks for your info. I'm glad to hear that you doing very well and I hope that continues. I asked about the doubling time because I'm trying to find someone in my category of doubling time I double every 3 weeks when I'm not on the Lupron I haven't found anybody yet that has that aggressive of a doubling time. I'd like it to make it 10 years and more but I'm not counting on it either way I'm content and I believe God has a great plan for me.
