Interesting about capsaicin!

Currumpaw profile image

I have mentioned a YouTube video several times in which Dr. Klotz shows a chart of a patient's PSA history who had hormone resistant prostate cancer. The patient stabilized his PSA by dosing himself 3X daily with hot sauce. When the patient "got off the sauce" his PSA began rising again on the same trajectory it had been on.

I have just come across an interesting link about another patient who used hot sauce in much the same way. I thought some on HU would be interested.

I reviewed some of the research papers about cancer killing effect of Capsaicin.

The amount of capsaicin is not sufficient in regular chilli peppers.

Two types of Chillies can fit the requirement in order to have some anti cancer effect

one is Habenaro and the other is Tabasco..so I got one bottle of Habanero souce and one bottle of Tabasco souce...Plan to put in Yogurt to prevent any stomach irritation.

Hey LearnAll!

That is sort of what Dr. Klotz's patient did. The patient's family manufactures hot sauce. I mentioned that the patient dosed himself 3X a day.

I have friends that own a deli. One of us that frequents the place brought in a bottle of Dave's Insanity. There was a little talk about it and scovilles! I asked one of the owners for a tablespoon. I sat at the table and calmly filled the tablespoon with Insanity, put it in my mouth and swallowed it. I kept a straight face all the way through.

One of the things I do in the morning is drink half a 5 ounce bottle of Whole Foods' 365, Organic, Jalapeno Hot Sauce and chase it with a few mouthfuls of water. I guess that could be considered practice for the "big time" Insanity!

The same guy brought in Habanero before the Insanity. The Habanero isn't in the same league as the Insanity. I used that on some food.

Dr. Klotz mentions in the video that capsaicin is available in capsules.

I think that half a bottle of Whole Foods Organic Jalapeno daily might be a workable dose--? You just have to meet the heat requirement. I have used a tablespoon of cayenne and vinegar to make my own.

Nature's Way makes capsaicin capsules with 100, 000 heat units. Amazon has a selection. I like to use an organic product whenever possible.

Thanks for sharing. I make a pickle with turmeric pieces, Ginger pieces and Jalapeno pieces in lime juice and eat a spoonful with each meal.

I think the amount of capsaicin in jalapeno is not enough. Therefore, I have started putting cayenne powder in my yogurt and sometimes, habenaro souce in yogurt.

I believe that we should eat all kinds of anti cancer foods along with our SOC meds.

1 tablespoon of Dave's Insanity Sauce down the hatch is a Certifiably Insane action. lol :0) My current use is a tooth pick dip in the bottle when used in my cooking.

Hey adducted2cycling!

Crazy was the general consensus of all those in the deli. Took my 2.5 ounces of 365 brand, Jalapeno Hot Sauce this morning with a spring water chaser as always. I am wondering if that is enough??

Capsaicin in a rub is good for muscular aches and bodybuilders even use it to lose weight as a supp and to dilate blood vessels for that currently desired "vascular look".

As a rub it is safer than what we traditionally use.

All right, being a home remedy enthusiast...at least that which doesn’t blow off the top of my head, or otherwise....having swallowed said megatonage in a capsule....what can one expect from ones unsuspecting gut’s response....not to mention the exit passage.....can’t unimagine myself heading in reverse for a snowbank with flames shooting out my ass.

Signed..suspiciously inquisitive.

Hey Jbooml!

According to what Dr. Klotz said in his video, if one uses the capsules it doesn't burn going down or coming it.

I posted updated info as there was so much interest. The link to the YouTube video in which Dr. Klotz speaks of capsaicin is on it.

Most hot sauces have huge amounts of sodium so keep in mind if you have high blood pressure issues. Probably better just to eat the whole pepper, like scotch bonnets or ghost peppers.

No harm. A series of N=2 cannot lead to any beneficial conclusions, unfortunately. Good to see your contribution, Currumpaw.

Capsaicin, like some other supplements, appears to be biphasic for androgen sensitive prostate cells. I don't know much about this, but I would proceed with caution until more is understood.

Transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1

* Transient receptor potential vanilloid type 1 (TRPV1) is expressed in epithelial prostate cells. * Expression of TRPV1 correlates with prostate cancer malignancy.

Effect of capsaicin on androgen-independent prostate cancer cells

* Capsaicin induces apoptosis by a TRPV1 receptor-independent mechanism.

* Capsaicin induces sphingomyelin hydrolysis and ceramide accumulation.

Effect of capsaicin on androgen-sensitive prostate cancer cells

* Capsaicin has a biphasic effect. Doses of less than micromolar levels induce growth and doses above 100 μM induce apoptosis.

* Low doses increase androgen receptor expression whereas high doses inhibit androgen-dependent PSA activation.

Hey dbrooks_h!

pjoshea13 posted info about a study on capsaicin's effect on prostate cancer that Dr. Klotz is involved with. The results haven't been reported yet.

If it warranted a study----?

I don't seem to find an explanation for '100 μM' in my conversion calculator, how much is 100 micromolar (μM) in real world size: 1 teaspoon, 1 ounce or ??

Currumpaw profile image
Currumpaw

Hey D_Alden!

A unit of length, a micrometer.

I believe they used 40,000 HU, heat units capsules 2X daily in the study.

100,000 HU capsules are also available. Use heat units. A measurement of length is irrelevant to a teaspoon which is a measurement of quantity or volume. Heat Unit is a measurement of strength or potency which is what you should look for.
