Liquid biopsy is a blood draw. No rectum involved.

You are probably scheduled for a TRUS biopsy:

cancerresearchuk.org/about-...

Liquid biopsy aims to locate and quantify cancerous cells (CTC) or broken DNA chains from dead such cells (ctDNA) circulating along with your blood.

Just a blood test. They are looking at circulating tumor cells and cell-free DNA.

From what I was told today the procedure is with light sedation and numbing to the oblique, a needle will go in to my vertebrae L3 all the way through according to the Dr. And his words were its extremely painful. How necessary is this procedure. I just did a foundation one blood test today. its will last a half hour, that's needle in and out. Very nervous about it. Please advise

That's a solid tumor biopsy, not a liquid biopsy. A liquid biopsy is just a blood draw.

Nothing up the rectum . Good news . Maybe you can zap that L-3 away with RT .

From Dr. Mayo on the Net:

DEAR MAYO CLINIC: What is a liquid biopsy? Can it be used in place of a tumor biopsy to find cancer?

ANSWER: A liquid biopsy involves examining cancer-related material (like DNA) from a blood sample. At this time, a liquid biopsy can’t replace a tumor biopsy. But researchers are studying the benefits of, and best uses for, liquid biopsies. They show promise in guiding individualized approaches to cancer management. Eventually, liquid biopsies also may be able to help health care providers screen for some forms of cancer.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
