Abiraterone Zytiga Copay assistance programs HELP

My husband has been using abiraterone successfully for a few months. Having much anxiety as we have to change insurance due to a contract dispute.

Right now he is on Zytiga and we are getting the copay assistance through Janssen which makes it almost free. We received notice that next year it has to be a generic version or we pay all costs. This seems to be the norm in all my other plan choices.

Now that abiraterone is made by several companies I have to apply for all of the manufacturers' copay assistance programs. I have already been told by Apotex that my insurance disqualifies me from theirs.

I think it would be helpful to list all the manufacturers and their programs. If you are aware of others please chime in.

Teva (can't find help yet)

Apotex reduces to $5/mo

abirateronesavings.com/pati...

Janssen reduces to $10/mo $12K max per year

janssenprescriptionassistan...

Johnson and Johnson (not sure of benefit or requirements)

jjpaf.org/

Mylan (can't find any copay assistance)

So much for generic drugs saving the consumer money. What a crock! Since I am being force onto generic it is costing us a lot more money over name brand.

The reality is Zytiga probably won't work for long anyway and he will be changed to some other more expensive drug that has a small chance of working. He had been on Xtandi before this and since there was no generic we did not have this cost problem with the insurance.

I ordered 4 month supply for $610 delivered to my door. They arrived in 10 days. The drugs come from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals in India, brand name Abirapro.

Glenmark is a solid drug manufacturer, established in 1977 for the specific purpose of making generic drugs.

Has his doctor tried the Patient Access Network?

These drugs don't come from Walgreens....They are dispensed through a "Special Pharmacy" that specializes in big buck cancer drugs..The pharmacist that work there will know all the angles, the discounts, the rebates, the copay support providers, You just need to talk with them to find what you are looking for..

I faced the same issue. I went online to Apotex and simply filled in the info. I was then able to print a scrip card that the pharmacy accepted. I talked to no one. I do see they exclude certain insurances e.g Federal Insurance.

Mine is federal so no go on that.

Have you found anything to work with federal? We have Aetna through federal and they are saying $350/month copay for the generic version.

BCBS Basic has been great but I have to change so looking at MHBP HDHP where 90 days of Zytiga is $400 or so. We have part a and b. Otherwise buy from India.

My husband gets the Zytiga generic, Abirapo, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, directly from India too. We use WhatsApp to order. Very satisfied with quality of generic and service of supplier.

I've also been ordering drugs from India for 20 years - a fraction of the cost here, good manufacturing, never an issue with credit cards or mail delivery. I use AllDay Chemist.

What are possibilities you could get the new drug

Daralutamide $$$ help through this approach?

We should start a separate message re: that drug as that may be the next option for my husband (and many others here) if he can get qualified.

The company I use doesn't carry darolutamide or abiraterone - I don't know if it carries any such drugs. I looked at the site mentioned above by FC Coffey - but it doesn't carry darolutamide either, though it does have abiraterone - maybe darolutamide is too new? Sorry. I was just trying to point out that ordering drugs from India has always proven safe and inexpensive for me. This is Silverline's website: silverlinemedicare.com/

Hi, Mylan does have a copay program...please check with your specialty pharmacy. I had to wait a few weeks before I was put into the program. My copay amount is $10 monthly.

Do you have a link to their copay assist?

My husband used this program for his generic abiraterone:

Abiraterone Acetate Instant Savings Program*

Q: How do I get a savings card?

Q: What are the program’s limitations?

This flyer will function as your savings card. Simply print the front page and present it to your pharmacist.

Visit AbirateroneSavings.com or call toll free at (855) 820-3230 if you need assistance or more information.

I'm sorry I don't...it was handled entirely by the specialty pharmacy Accredo which is part of Express Scripts. Yonsa is another generic available that has copay assistance. Yonsa is a registered trademark of Sun Pharma Global FZE.

Grumpyswife I won't be able to add to the advice regarding copay assistance, but I'd say don't think about how short or long Zytiga will work. My dad also started with Xtandi for a few months, then after experienced extreme neurological side effects from Xtandi, was switched to Zytiga. The Zytiga worked for five years... if it is working now, who knows how long it'll last, but it could very well last longer than we expect it initially. Sending you best wishes for continued success with Zytiga!

Arthur

Thank you. I will pass that onto my husband. 5 years is great and we are grateful for every day above ground.
