at 56 discovered advanced PCa and was life changing for sure. the fact that its not something that can be cured even days (3 years later) has me on the edge most days. to date i have learned as much as possible, found a support group, found a great place for care and a great GU doc, done ADT - Chemo - Radiation - Provenge and now moving along to 2nd line ADT or Enzi. each day is one that we all need to try and find some joy and peace. we need to live in the moment and be around people that encourage the same. live in the moment, laugh as much as possible, do the things you love, be with the ones you love... enjoy a great cup of coffee!

Good advice. A year and a half after diagnosis I find some days very difficult. I have 2 children in their mid to late twenties and that makes it difficult for me because we are very close so it’s especially hard. Fortunately they are good kids with strong work ethics so I don’t worry about them it’s more what will I miss after I’m gone.
Hex40 its a rotten hand we all have been dealt with PCa - all we can hope for is that we are getting the most up to date care from one of the foremost cancer centers with a great GU Doc. Doing our best at this moment and when the big black dog enters the room we find ways to send him to the back yard. Living in the moment and loving those close.... great job on raising two young adults with strong work ethics. Truly great job!
A welcome reminder to live in the moment. If I get ahead of myself, my whole demeanor crumbles to the stress. It’s very hard to watch my DH fight this beast. Only 4 weeks into ADT and the fatigue is heartbreaking to watch him struggle.
HealThyb the ADT gets easier along this journey (believe me).. the hot flashes do go away and the emotional swing from low to very low does in fact soften over time. The journey is not easy but your HB is lucky to have someone around the cares. Keep up the fight!
You've come to the right place for the latest posts on treatments and trial results. Welcome!
I am following your pathway almost exactly. My journey also started at age 56. You have a great attitude!
I finished Provenge this week, waiting for scans and blood-work results in mid-November to determine next steps. I hope to delay the second-line stuff such as abiraterone and will be listening to both of my specialists very carefully.
thanks for the note tallguy2.... started Enzi this past Saturday after seven months of PSA rises. was not easy to move along this journey but I guess we all do what is needed when the time is present. so far only a few hot flashes and some additional lower back fatigue. hope to get a couple years on this drug but living in the moment I guess I get what I get and then decide whats next. thanks again for the words and good luck on the blood work results...
Yes those PSA rises will be my trigger to start the next line of therapy, too. Keep posting, please. It's nice to have another fellow traveler on this journey.
Another day tell me more about your GU Doc at MDA. Seems we go to the same place on this journey - love the compassion and drive to find a cure. Will for sure keep posting...
