My husband BRCA2 positive will begin treatment next week with Lynparza. Does anyone have experience taking this drug?
Lynparza: My husband BRCA2 positive... - Advanced Prostate...
Lynparza
Good Morning Craigslife,
I have been taking Lynparza since late October 2016, when the Guardant360 liquid biopsy found my cancer's ATM genetic defect.
Dr. Snuffy Myers prescribed 300mg twice a day, so I take 6 capsules in morning and another 6 in the evening. No discernible side effects.
Lynparza is very expensive, at just under $10,000/month retail price, so a prior authorization is required. I am covered under Humana's prescription drug plan (Medicare) and Lynparza is dispensed by Biologics to me on a monthly basis.
As to effectiveness, it is difficult to determine impact, as I also had proton beam radiation and take numerous other drugs.
Since I am in the fight, I appreciate any new therapies which may prolong life.
Never Give In!
Best wishes.
Vandy69,
Thank you for your response. Curious, has your PSA dropped while taking Lynparza? Craig's will begin with 400 mg twice a day.
Susan
Hi Susan,
In the first month I saw no change. Did see declines in PSA for next few months, but I was also undergoing proton beam radiation at the same time, so impossible to determine cause.
For last 3 months, PSA is rising again, and I meet my new Med Onc on Tuesday to plan next steps.
As you have probably learned, everyone is unique in this battle, so Craig may have a completely different response.
I will celebrate 5 years with Stage 4 lymph node mets prostate cancer in August.
What is Craig's history?
Mark
Craig is 13 years stage 4. He has bone and lymph node mets. He was on zytiga for 3 1/2 years and when it started to fail switched to xtandi which did nothing. His PSA is 7 up from less than .1 a year ago. He had an RP in 2004, then 33 radiation treatment 3 years later. Then Lupron and provenge followed by zytiga and xtandi. We have had some great years since his diagnosis, and I am hoping for many more.

Live in Atlanta, but travel is not an issue. He referred a friend of mine who lives near us to a Med Onc in NYC. I think Dr. Myers is referring us to a particular doc who he thinks is best equipped for our type of cancer.
Can you give the name of med onc dr myers refered your friend to in new york city and if he is a pc specialist. Thank you. Rocco
