I've been on Lupron for over two years. After starting with a PSA of 97, Gleason 9, Grade 5 bilateral T3-T4 prostate cancer, I hit the bricks running. Chemo, radiation, Zytiga, and Lupron. I'm now undetectable. I'm reading that 18 months on hormone therapy is statistically as good as 36. But my oncologist wants me to do another year of Lupron. I'm having to seriously consider my resources and question whether I can do another year of treatment. Any wisdom out there regarding this place I will soon find myself?

Year 3 On Lupron?
That "18 months is as good as 36" may be true for most high hisk men. Most high risk men are Gleason 8 or T3 or Psa=20-50. However, you are Gleason 9 and T4 and PSA>50. A recent analysis showed that any pattern 5 calls for stronger measures:
My take on these situations is if what you are on is still working don't stop. You still have casodex, xtandi and more coming.
I’ve been on adt almost five years with no signs of pc . Hang in there ...
G9G,
I have been on Lupron for 26 months and have been undetectable for ~17. I don't know that there are any plans to take me off the lovely stuff, but I tend to agree with Magnus. As long as it's working, I can live with it.
If it works don't fix it...........
Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

I concur with those saying to stay with Lupron if it's working. My husband entered into year 15 and is still on Lupron. His psa is undetectable and we hope it stays that way. Best of luck to you! Aloha.
