Anyone else have experience with internal resorption? My husband has been through surgery, radiation and 6 months of Lupron. The Lupron should be wearing off about now. Last week he had a cavity...something the dentist said was relatively rare called internal resorption and now he has another toothache. Is this related to cancer treatment??

Internal Resorption with Cancer Treatment?

I never heard of it. Is he taking a bone strengthening agent (Zometa or Xgeva)?
Internal resorption is associated with inflammation, which can be due to trauma to the tooth. I'm wondering if your husband grinds or clenches his teeth? A nightguard can help protect the teeth against night-time bruxism.

I had a resorption experience years before I was diagnosed with PC. One of my molars broke chomping down on a relatively soft fish stick. Dentist described it as 'resorption' -- my body decided it no longer liked or would tolerate that tooth. One of life's mysteries, I suppose.
We have a couple of Dentists here.... so try to post this again and they may see it and help with your husband's "resorption". BTW If your husband is having pain and you want to numb his tooth he can get some oil of cloves at the drugstore or bite on a clove (handy to have around with your six children - tastes terrible but works). You deserve a medal, married 25 years with 6 children... So I guess it was like this in your house when your husband would come home from work. "Hello, Goodbye I'm pregnant..😊

Hello, all. I am “husband of” WifeOf. I am in my 6th month of Lupron so it should be out of my body by the end of this month and I finished my radiation treatment mid-June. I went back to the dentist today for this second tooth. He actually doesn’t see anything wrong with it but I’ve had aches for 4-5 days. He is also unaware of any connection. He gave me an antibiotic wondering if it is actually the tooth with the resorption causing the pain. When starting Lupron, I was directed to take 2400 mg of calcium and 2000 IUs of vitamin D. I did but fell out of the habit for some reason a while ago. I am again toeing the line.
