If you could only choose 2 - 3 supplements

My dad is not a type of person who would take dozens od different supplements. His compliance to the regime would be 0. But taking 2 -3 would work.

If you could only take 2-3, which ones would you take?

I already bought Modified Citrus Pectin (Econugenics), and I'm looking to add 2 -3. I'm looking at tumeric, IP-6 (but affraid of high calcium intake, as for now he has not been able to get off diary products), beta glucan, and ProstaCaid (Euconugenics).

Anyone using ProstaCaid?

I'm grateful for your comments.

Very difficult question.

1] Curcumin in the form of LongVida, sold by one company as CurcuBrain. Extremely bioavailable. Passes through the blood-brain barrier. Inhibits NF-kB & the inflammatory metabolites of arachidonic acid.

swansonvitamins.com/now-foo...

2] Nattokinase. At the right dose (based on D-dimer testing), can eliminate blood clots, including the micro-clots that facilitate metastasis.

I prefer: swansonvitamins.com/nutrico...

But I now use the following because of the price: swansonvitamins.com/doctors...

I would also add two drugs: Metformin & a statin.

Best to you both. -Patrick

Thank you for your kind reply! My dad is on daily low dose od aspirin, so I believe Nattokinase should be avoided. For Metformin & statin you need prescription, right? That will be difficult to presuade GP / urologist without increased values.

in reply toMyDad76

Metformin for sure, there is enough research to persuade your doctor! Statin the same, I would recommend atorvastatin. Since I read he is on ADT statin is very important, because low testosterone raises your chances for heart disease, and in addition statins do have anticancer properties (which are enhanced by metformin).

Thank you. I think I should check with his GP Re K2 since he is on daily low dose od aspirin.

K2 from MK7 can come in a pill together with vit D if choosing just 2-3 is important. Is he on low aspirin because of heart issues?

He is on low aspirin because when he was put on bicalutamid 150mg he had TIA (like mini stroke, that luckelky did not have any consequences). He had big troubles with blood pressure on bicalutamid 150mg, but when reduced to 50mg, he did not have such side effects. He has since than stopped taking bicalutamid but he still takese Low dose of aspin.

These are my top three based on ant-tumor and anti-metastasis effects:

1) Berberin:

2) Inositol IP6:

3) Aspirin:

Thank you for sharing, much appreciated! Could you please inform which brands of Barberini and IP6 do you use and what is your dosing? Thank you again.

I use these products... I take half-scoop of IP-6 in a warm cup of water in the morning, and I take 1/5 tsp of berberine powder mixed with peanut butter daily along with powdered milk thistle for liver health. This IP-6 product also has calcium and magnesium, good when taking Zytiga/Pred which depletes calcium.

Thank you! I think Eligard (Lupron) also depletes Calcium?

Yes for Lupron -> "Men who take hormone therapy for extended periods of time are at risk for bone thinning (osteoporosis). You may be advised to take calcium and vitamin D supplements to help prevent bone loss. Weight bearing exercise and a healthy diet rich in calcium and vitamin D can also help protect your bone health. "

Do not supplement calcium

MyDad76 in reply toTall_Allen

We are absolutely not / and will not used calcium supplements. My concern is, that if someone is using IP-6 besides consuming diary, his calcium intake dan soon be to high.

It's easily monitored with a blood test

why do you think they have 62% rda of phosphorus per serving of IP6? Isn't that had on the kidneys? I suppose if you only take 1/2 a scoop daily then that is fine but one person - CalBear, takes a huge amount (maybe 5-8 scoops) and he says it has kept his PSA down but I dont understand if the phospurus is necessary as a transport into your cells or something to that effect?

Yes, megadoses of inositol could cause kidney stones, but if the dose is 62% of RDA, it should be safe.

Most important is Vitamin D3, 1000 i.u.'s daily. Also, drink lots of green tea, i recommend Yamamotoyama.

If you have prostate cancer I would say

1. metformin - cures all that ails you

2. Fish oil

I have never taken any supplements my entire life until 2 years ago. ARREDS 2, for my eyes.

GD

I take vit K2 that also includes nattokinase. Vitacost.

See if you can push that hard limit up a bit -- to 5 or 6. Why arbitrarily restrict the potential benefits of supplements that research has shown to have useful properties.

I know this is an old thread that's resurfaced, but I thought I'd answer its original question.

Which supplements would I take if I could only choose 2-3?

That's an easy one for me to answer - Essiac tincture and CBD oil because I've been taking them both every day for more than three years.

I know there's no scientific evidence showing them to be effective, but I've been very happy with my results.
