Hi we’re going to see our daughter in LA in July. Thought it wouldn’t hurt for my husband to get a third opinion.
He just has a new urostomey from all the damage from
SP, he’s second time DX, he did have undetectable about second month after surgery but has went up a tad but continues to complain about hip and rib pain.
His is aggressive and even though his psa is low , I don’t trust that it’s not lurking somewhere.
Thank you

What kind of a doctor are you looking for - a urologist who can fix the damage caused by the salvage prostatectomy? or a medical oncologist who can prescribe medicines to slow progression?
He has the permanent urostomey (ostomey) now , they did that in April,so I think that’s as good as it’s going to get to fix all the damage from the SP, he went through hell until he got that .
Ty, hopefully marina del Ray is better than St. John’s hospital. My daughter has crohns that lives in LA and we had a horrible experience with St. John’s, it did finally end up well but it was hell until then. I guess a lot has to do with who your dr is, she went trough the emergency room and got a ambulance chaser. Lol
I concur with the recommendations so far, in fact they are my two MO's and I see them both regularly. Prostate Oncologist has three docs, all with an excellent reputation, I have seen Scholz and Turner, they might be easier to get an appointment than Dr. Dorf who is usually very busy..
I also see the doctors at Prostate oncology. They are awesome. I also see Dr Drakaki at ucla. She too is incredible! None of these doctors make you feel rushed or stupid for your questions. It may be hard to get an appointment at Prostate oncology on such short notice but they do allow (paid) phone consults for out of town patients.
