Was on Zoladex 10,8mg 12 weekly for 5 years.Had a PETSCAN ,indicated no metestases outside the Prostate.Oncologist determined that due to rising PSA ,doubled in 3 Months. and became resistant to the Zoladex treatment. The Dr put me on Firmagon, initial triple shot, to be followed by monthly shot as well as xtandi 40mgx4 Daily. I also have to start with Radiation soon. Any comments on this treatment will be welcome.

Ok, so I looked back at your profile and it is unclear whether you had a regular PET scan or a PET/CT Axumin scan. With a PSA over 10, either the PET/CT Axumin or the newer Gallium PSMA scans can pick up met lesions much better than a regular PET scan... I had negative tests with a PSA near 3, but my met lesion was found with the Axumin scan.

That being said, it looks like you are on appropriate treatment...the Xtandi gives fatigue to a lot of people..As for radiation, I am guessing this is adjuvant radiation?

Anyway, keep fighting and good luck....

Even though a more sensitive might pick up Mets. Your mo probably assume that and put you on an excellent treatment for it. Hope all goes well with a long term remission. Rocco

Xtandi works great, but 160 mg daily dose made me a complete invalid. Cut to 120, then 100, then 90, now at 86 mg average dose and have a life. Two pills a day and 3 on Sunday. .

Hi Shooter1 Thanks for your Feedback on Xtandi.. Did you have Radiadiation as well while on Xtandi?..Sure sounds like the change in the Daily Xtandi Dose makes a difference..Will check with my Onc..Regards

No radiation. Spider web of Gleason 9/10 through out abdomen spreading to many areas to close to vital organs and damage from radiation was judged to be worse than not treating it. Chemo seems to have it under control with help from Xtandi.

The Firmagon, Zytiga combination lowered my dad’s psa but he died of heart failure. He had a very aggressive form of pc so he only lived 11 weeks from the time of diagnosis. I’m sure you have a lot of great options because your’s seems to be slow moving. Keep your head up. New treatments are coming out everyday.
