Testosterone level on Firmagon and Xtandi

Anyone experiencing a testosterone level around 20 ng/DL (and rising) after being on Firmagon and Xtandi? After initial treatment it was undetected and has gone from 10 last month to 20 this month. I know it’s not a trend but still makes me worry. Your experiences?

There could be small fluctuation between different Testosterone tests. In my case, the result is shown as T < 20, which implies it could be anything between 0 and 20. I wouldn't worry unless T increases above 50 when on ADT.

For three yearsI get a shot of Eligard once every 6 months, which controls the testoserone. My levels are undetectable.

My oncologist says we can monitor and if it continues we can switch from Firmagon to Lipton. I’ll let you know how it goes. I read a report that says keeping testosterone below 20 has shown more positive outcomes even though recommendation is for <50nd/DL.

If I can throw my 2 cents into the hat, if you do switch to lupron, see if you can get the 3 month subcutaneous injection. You will not have the issue with pain that the intramuscular injections cause.

Have you been on zytiga?

Curious as to why you oncologist put you Xtandi right out the gate. I was put on Zytiga along with 3 mo. Eligard injections. My T is < 1 and my PSA is < 0.01. I understand the Zytiga can have less overall SEs but don't quote me on that.

54 yr oldRochester, NY

Diagnosed 8/20/2020 stage 4 w/741 PSA

After 1 month on Casidex and Firmagon PSA undetected.

Wasn’t given a Gleason score.

Currently on Firmagon and Xtandi

Hopefully starting a clinical trial soon to radiate prostate.
