It is a long time without writting here but I always try to follow the posts and take advantage of all the support this forum gives me and my father with knowledge.
He has three mets that are currently reducing its size.He is on Zytiga and Zodalex each three months.Already 1year and 4 months since DX.
Now he is suffering a lot of pain at the stomatch, legs and arms and he feel really tired and depressed because of medication. He had scans and Blood test two weeks ago and he is still undetectable and without new mets but he feel pain.
What can we do to quit pain? He has lymphocele as well and we though stomatch pain may come from there.
I always try him to go out with me and friends but he is always tired. We also had recently problems because of a high debt and because of that he is also depressed saying that he wants to die.
MO recommended him take Zodalex each 6 months instead and change Zytiga to another medication.
I also though about using CBD for his pain.Does anyone used It to relieve pain?
Thank you very much
I am sorry for my English I Hope you can understand me

For the fatigue, is he sleeping well at night? If not, consider taking melatonin or something for sleep...The muscle aches and pains I do not get often, but I use biofreeze (OTC) for this or ben gay... Biofreeze helps a lot... He may benefit from a massage .... For the depression, you may wish to talk with his MD about it... Do not use St John's Wort, as I recall there is a drug interaction with Zytiga... Here is a previous post on the issue of drug interactions:
I would do what I could to continue the med if possible since he seems to be doing well in regards to his cancer---undetectable and mets shrinking... Doing some walking may help relax his muscles also... They also may wish to check his potassium or magnesium if he is getting muscle cramps /spasms...
If medical marijuana is legal in your state, THC is worth a try. For me, it helps with mood and anxiety, loosens muscle tension, and helps with appetite and taste during chemo. It doesn't do much for my pain, but I cease to care about it.
I've tried high CBD but it doesn't do much at the low doses where THC is very effective. High doses would get very expensive, which won't help with financial stress.
Hi i cant say to much about Zytiga but im on Xtandi and that would cause pain in my toes fingers and knees. Long story short i reduced dose in half and my side effects were reduced greatly. Still had pain in all those places. Trued CBD and it disnt do anything so i tried pot. After 2 weeks or so i noticed the pains went away. Maybe try Xtandi as the doctor suggest and remember you can reduce the dose and still be effective.
The problem with pot is ; mode of transmission and quantity of thc. There is evidence that ' smoking pot ' may speed up the cancer spread. If you ingest it by mouth it's ok. The THC level can bring about panic attacks it you are not used to it. If you are over 60 you can injure your heart. Some people react poorly to a sudden and powerful high. Caution is the rule on pot. If it's like 7% then you may have a pleasant buzz, A 30% thc can be frightening if you don't expect it or have little experience with it.
Heed this advice about using pot. People who have had psychosis can have very negative reactions, and some people just don't take well to it at all. For those of us that it works for it relieves a lot of pain and some anxiety.
Have to say though that Xtandi has kicked my butt for pain. All my joints, feet, knees, shoulders, fingers are just truly upset with me right now and nothing really touches it. And that just goes to how we are all different and react differently.
Another route is a tricyclic antidepressant such as desimpramine ( norpramin). Desimpramine is known to block pain, it is also an antidepressant. Google this if you want. Nuerontin in conjunction with this plus Aleve will ameliorate pain from zytiga. Avoiding opiods is important because of it's addictiveness and it causes constipation. I would get on this ... also excercise but that's hard to do with depression.
