1 year on Zytiga

Here's a summary of what's going on with my father's PSA while on Zytiga.

PSA - Date

3 - 24th May

2.75 - 20th June (-0.25)

3.3 - 19th July (+0.55)

1.92 - 31th August (-1.38)

2.25 - 28th September (+0.33)

2.02 - 28th October (-0.23)

2.10 - 30th November (+0.08)

0.90 - 18th January (-1.20)

0.70 - 8th March (-0.20)

0.46 - 12th April (-0.24)

0.52 - 10th May (+0.06)

Today marks a full year that he started using the drug, latest PSA was taken a few days ago and was 0.52, the drug is still effective fortunately and he is responding very well to it, side effects are there but always bearable (fatigue and hot flashes).

He was originally diagnosed with a G7 (4+3) Adenocarcinoma back in April 2017 and had both RP (failed but I think still helped him greatly) and a lighter version of Docetaxel chemo before starting Zytiga.

He never had bone mets, always lymph nodes.

Best wishes to all the other fighters!

Thanks for posting!

Glad to hear. I am also having success so far with Zytiga, coming up on one year with a PSA that is still undetectable as of last week. So grateful for this drug, giving us more time to live.

Thanks, I am just so happy we have this. My dad also had PCa, but died right aorund the time Zytiga was being approved so never got to benefit from it. I feel so lucky to be getting this extra time to live.

same here--there are people that have been on zytiga for 6 or 7 years and still doing great..it's wild....the individuality of this disease makes you uncertain but appreciative of every day you get... keep your eyes on the science--some good things may be coming soon...

Hi NPfisherman, I’m just at seven and a half years. PSA at dx was 571, currently immeasurable. Lots of muscle wastage, particularly in my legs, but two big Mets in my femurs don’t help.

Just had a worry with the large met in my pelvis, but tests prove nothing is happening. I sometimes aggravate the area by sitting on something hard or even sitting with my wallet in my back pocket!

Good luck all on this medication, it’s a wonder drug for some.

Impressive! Are you on Zytiga and if so for how long?

On Zytiga plus Prednisone for 7.5 years. Started early in the STAMPEDE trial here in the U.K. My PSA dropped from 571 to immeasurable within 12 weeks, where it’s stayed. No dietary changes, no supplements, no voodoo medicine. I’ve got 7 major bone Mets, skull, shoulder, two ribs, pelvis and both femurs. Doing OK but for the muscle loss. Tried to exercise my way out of the muscle wastage, but my femurs aren’t up to it. Very happy to be alive.

Last PSA taken today was 0.30 (-0.22 from previous month) and this is our 13th month on Zytiga.

At this rate our MO expects a decently long run with the drug (around 2-3 years).

All that matters is that my father feels almost normal again, and we are very grateful for that, he has much more time to enjoy his grandchild too.

God bless all. Keep hoping and fighting!
