Any risk of taking 30% CBD oil when also treated with lupron and Zytiga (and post raidiation) ??

I am considering to start taking 30% CBD oil (as recommended by an expert into this) with the purpose of weakening especially 2 metastases which did not decrease during 7 months of treatment (lupron + zytiga and radiation which ended 3 months ago). I do not have any pain anywhere. My blood numbers are good.. PSA steadily decreased from 88 - 0.47... My metastases all got reduced in activity (via PSMA scan)... except one rib (costa 8) and one lympf node. The rib was a shadow 7 months ago, but now celar active. The 3 bone mets I have in the pelvis also got radiation and 2 of those are reduced and 1 is gone. Some lymph nodes are gone too and some reduced.. except one which is the same. So I have some belief in that the radiation to the bone mets had effect.. since the rib met increased (which did not got radiation) - I know TallAllen also gave me some inputs on that :-)

I am now taking a talk to my doctors if radiation could be an option to that rib met and lymph node.. even though that no evidence of improved OS is there (but there is also no evidence that is does not benefit i think...)

But my question is:

The Cannabis "specialist" is pretty sure, it would benefit on slowing down progression of those mets (or even cure - which I am more realistic about might not be the case) by taking 30% CBD oil. So I am now ready to try that (I also got high dose IVC three months prior to radiation)... However, my concern is if it would work AGAINST the treatment I get (lupron and Zytiga) and any possbile post radation effects.. !!! Any thoughts on that..

From what I read CBD oil can help with the symptoms of prostate cancer i.e. pain, nausea etc. But whether it has any medical curative properties has not been established.

Studies only show it helps with cancer in a petri dish or mice.

What did your Oncologist say?

Didn't talk to my doctors about this. I know from my danish Network that doctors will not in any way participate or give advice about any alternative treatments....

Doctors here in Washington State think differently. They will even PRESCRIBE cannabis oil. I use a 1:1 cbd\sativa or indica. I don't know what the rest of you do for the pain and nausea. I couldn't survive without my oil.

However anyone who says it cures cancer is not credible in my opinion. My relative swears it does. I think it is the ADT talking. I researched that a lot, was hopeful, and it hasn't helped much if any.

Let’s just say that the human mind is powerful. Placebo effect is real . I personally believe that high thc oil deletes cancer cells. I’m in remission with five years of adt after imrt and have used this oil every day of it . Will it last . Probably not forever. Neither will we . I’m sorry that you say it hasn’t helped him much. But it might be helping in ways unseen . We can’t blame the guy for trying ? Good luck to you both.

Washington is progressive . Most of the us lags behind .

in reply to45yrsDenmark

My US Drs did not protest my use throughout treatments. Good luck

Western med doesn’t acknowledge alt med. I do . I’ve done much . Each to their own healing pathway . Do whatever you feel will help you get better .Sometimes you must throw some spaghetti to see what sticks. ?

Hi 45yrsDenmark

As your post is about CBD oil I thought I'd let you know that I've been taking CBD oil for over 3 years, together with Essiac.

I've been very pleased with the results so far. (Which you can see in my profile).

Perhaps you might find this 2016 World Journal of Oncology case report of a patient who used alternatives interesting...

Kind regards

Make sure you let your oncologist know first. I spoke to mine first and he had no problem with prescription for it. My advice is to go to reputable dispensaries and not buy over the counter stuff. Leo

It is illegal here in Denmark. No doctors can prescribe it. Only very rare for pain which I don't have...

I would still let him know.

Before I went with the standard treatments I was dosing sublingually with a very strong CBD extract I was purchasing from an outfit called Aunt Zelda's in the SF Bay area. I was hoping for a cure based upon all the research I had done. During the 8 months of treatments my PSA rose from 22 up to 50. Needless to say it didn't work on my cancer, but I do believe that there needs to be more testing on the Cannabis plant to see what it might be capable of in the near future. Good luck with your choice.

THC is the element that attacks Cancer. CBD is mainly for pain and nausea.

You can read more on this by googling Rick Simpson oil. Didn't cure mine, but the effect on pain and nausea is VERY helpful.

I actually started out with a gram dose of just the THC oil as per Phoenix Tears guidelines, but was advised that Prostate cancer required a higher CBD content. Without proper professional testing there is no way to know for sure what could work.

I use a 1:1 formula. They are making more of this it seems. Both handles the CBD you need while also giving you the THC to fight with. Helps with sleeping a lot.

Oil kept my PSA at .023 for a year and a half then I went on a vacation crossing state lines so the oil was discontinued for 3 weeks. The PSA climbed to .029 then to .039. Now I am on week 5 of salvage radiation. A friend of mine dropped his PSA from 10.7 to 6.3 using oil. Cannabis oil seems to moderate the cancer but is not a cure, or I would have been cured last year. It can -in some people- be beneficial. I take the oil in a capsule rectally. This allows a much higher blood level as the "high" is nil or non existent. Being on week 5 I started taking it orally as my rectum is a bit sore from being singed with X rays. I take it just before bed to skip the high which I dislike. Sleeping is greatly improved.

This will work for some and not for others. It does not hurt to try. I am on Lupron and notice no ill effects.

Does this help with the side effects of firmagon? My husband was on it for 18 months and came off of it a few months ago. But the last few months... the side effects from the firmagon have been debilitating. Hoping maybe cbd oil will help with this?

ck722 profile image
ck722 in reply tosandy4510

Yes, it might help. What effect are you looking for?

1. It helps some people sleep better.

2. It helps some people keep their PSA down.

3. It can help some people with pain and anxiety.

Try it and see. Start low dose. Remember, yesterday's dose will add somewhat to today's dose. It can make some people drowsy. Taking it in the late afternoon can help. Sleep on it.

Cannabis, in any form, will not cure cancer but it does appear to put it to sleep as evidenced by a drop in PSA. I acknowledge it is not killing the cancer but causing it to "go to sleep" is second best but I will take it.

Note. Many will disagree with these statements but the above is from a lot of reading and personal experience.

My husband has just been hit really hard by the firmagon. He’s been off it for several months but it’s still in his system. He says most days he feels like he has the flu. He does exercise but says that often makes him feel worse. So just looking for some relief when he feels that bad. Fatigue and body aches I guess you would call it. I really had high hopes for CBd oil and started reading posts on this site yesterday. But one thing I read really disturbed me... that prostate cells have many cannaboid receptors and the cbd may fuel them. I know we really don’t know for sure but I had never considered that. Thank you for replying so quickly I appreciate your feedback!

ck722 profile image
ck722 in reply tosandy4510

If the CBD is "fueling" the cancer it should show in the next PSA test. The proof is in the pudding. You could also try high THC oil. Place a tiny drop on a gel-capsule and insert it rectally. This avoids the "high" and requires the smallest dose as it is the most efficient way of taking it.

Thanks for the ideas... the high thc oil I would need to get it from a dispensary in a state where it is legal right? We live in Tennessee and is not legal.

ck722 profile image
ck722 in reply tosandy4510

You might have to cross a state line or two. Lab Corp will do a PSA for $60 or so. The very bottom line is, for me, it is possibly extending my good health. Next month my Lupron (same as Firmagon) wears off and I DONT want to go back on the stuff.

I truly hope you don’t have to go back on it. Wishing you the best of luck!!

I don't agree with 'his cure theory'.

No solid evidence of proof that I have found in 3 years chasing this stuff down.

I am a licensed grower / patient who takes a CDB tincture twice daily and have been for nearly 2 years. I also grow my own 'hybrid' / THC versions to assist with insomnia.

Many have asked the following question :

Is medical cannabis 'good' for PCa ?

There is some evidence that it MIGHT slow tumor growth / progression OR it MIGHT slow down the ability for tumors to grow an independent blood supply to feed itself - so there is no harm that jumps out at you.

Beware of 'false' promises.

Some types of supplements, ongoing exercise, some adjustment(s) to diet and other factors can help on this journey.

There's lots to learn and lots to read up on.

I wish you well on this road well traveled by many men .....

Cbd can help many things . It is non toxic and interferes with nothing else . I myself did some cbd’s then I went straight into high the thc oil.

Thanks for inputs. I know that there will be different opinions regarding the effect on the metastized cancer, but my marin concern was if it would work against eligard (lupron), Zytiga+prednisone and post radiation which are my treatments.

In all of my reading it does not interfere. I have spent many a day searching the net for answers.

You need a second opinion; consult someone else. I never believe the conclusion of one doctor because practice shows that they are also wrong. I think getting a second opinion would be the best solution. I think many people know the medicinal and favorable properties of marijuana on the human body. The effect may be from the adoption of CBD oil.

I recently bought a vape pen and noticed that the headaches stopped tormenting me. I was surprised and at the same time very happy about it. I saw that it helps to relieve a headache.
