Triple hormonal blockade for prostate cancer, anyone have experience with this?

I came across this article today and it has me curious , it supports Dr. Meyers treatment to suppress testosterone from all sources. I have asked my MO about this type of treatment and he does not support it. Your thoughts? Also it promotes (almost like a commercial) a supplement "Dr. Strum’s Intensive Bone Formula" that includes K2D3 as well as other supplements and I was wondering if anyone has used this product? The article is a recent publication from 1/30/19.

There is no evidence that triple blockade is more effective than a single drug.

The best medicine for bone health is weight-bearing exercise. Only supplement if there are deficiencies.

You always give a research based answers, that is why patients look forward to your response.

I was on ADT3 from September 2015 to September 2018 with vacations every 13 months from trelstar until PSA increased to where I had scans. It sounds good in theory to hit PCa from three directions but not sure it’s necessary or more effective. Now I’m on estradiol patches ( see PATCH trial for info) and dutasteride. I’ve also been on metformin, rosuvastatin and celecoxib the whole time.

My dad's been on triple blockade since late 2014, when he went metastatic with bone involvement. First under Dr. Myers, then two succeeding oncologists have kept him on it (Dr. Ferrari and Dr. Drake). He started with Lupron+Casodex+Avodart, then switched in 2015 to Lupron+Zytiga+Avodart.

Muscle loss is the only serious side effect for my dad. He is now starting to do weigh-bearing exercises, because the muscle loss has caused him to not be able to go up stairs, without help.

Xgeva has been added for bone strength and to reduce the likelihood of bone mets reappearing as well, might be worth asking about this drug as well, if you have bone mets.

Best,

Arthur

Think I am living proof of Dr Myers treatment plan. Was on Lupron Casodex. And Avodart. Now just avodart 15 plus years since diagnosed gleason 9 (5/4). Just recently found some mets to bones but doing very well

Great to hear this! Husband on Lupron since 12/2016 Adv stage 4 Gleason 9 (tumor off 8th rib was what discovered cancer) Last May PSA hit 80 so Zytiga added PSA down few months but never passed 40🙄Last PSA last month in 60”s Dr watching looking for 3 consecutive rises ! told us not to worry so much about PSA

Husband working basically doing well! Also Exgeva since diagnosis for bones! Last scans showed no new areas!

I’ve been on triple blockade per Dr. Myers for nearly 5 years now - Lupron/Xtandi/Avodart to treat my Stage 4, G9 PCa. My PSA remains undetectable and my doctors, including Dr. Sartor (now that Snuffy has retired) have advised me to stay the course, if it works don’t fix it.

I’ve also had my prostate and several nodes radiated, chemo per CHAARTED, take metformin, and use estradiol patches - the Snuffy multidimensional protocol.
