So glad I found this forum. I hate others are also dealing with advanced prostate cancer, but I'm relieved to hear of others under 50 also dealing with this. I am 46. I was diagnosed 3 months ago after 5 months of being treated for prostititis . Biopsy was done, all 12 were 8 and 9 Gleason scores. Currently on lupron 4 month shot, zytiga and prednisone. Last month psa was .19, psa was 43 at diagnosis with several bone mets. I definitely believe in prayer, diet (now vegan), exercise, sleep, meditation, and low stress, which is challenging for a single working parent of 3. I've had some side effects but the biggest struggle is in my mind. After my initial diagnosis, I had depression like I've never experienced. After a few weeks I started to get through that and stared to accept it and have prayed every day for peace and healing. I pray that for everyone on here dealing with this. I'm going to Duke university cancer center and feel I am in good hands.

Thank you. I agree with you, my faith will help anchor me. I have learned that along with finding the best Dr. I feel comfortable with, it is up to me to learn everything I can about ways deal with this. Finding this forum is one way to connect with others who are also dealing with advanced pc. I do believe diet, exercise, getting enough sleep, low stress, etc will help my body and mind stay well and fight this, while getting the best Dr. care/treatment. My first Dr. (who I don't go to anymore) gave me my diagnosis and little to no advise on how to deal with it.

Greetings... We all have gone through the anxiety and stress when we learned that we have the big C. You are correct in having a good diet, exercising and rest. I don't know the ages of your children but at some point you will have to sit them down and explain your situation. That will be very hard to do. There is a wealth of knowledge here so listen to the many experts who post here. Don't listen to me because all I know is humor.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Thank you. I did let my kids know about a month after my dx. It was hard but I didn't go into detail, just that I had it and was being treated by some of the best Dr.s in the world. Two are still in elementary school. My oldest is in high school and knows more but is handling it very well and big help to me with daily chores.

I predict that you'll be around to see your youngest child's children in elementary school and you'll be spoiling them. I was only wrong once in all of my predictions, that was when I married my first wife. God Bless you and God Bless your loving children.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.

Thank you for your prayers. Yes I am a NC resident. I go back to Duke in March to get re-scanned and set up radiation on my prostate and possibly other spots as well. In the meantime I am doing everything I did before my diagnosis, work, kids, etc... only now with a much better diet and more consistent exercise and more prayers.

I think so too. I'm a once a year golfer for now anyway. My kids have no interest in it. Thanks again

It seems odd to say “welcome”, but you’re in the right place. Whether you contribute or just read, you will find something here to assist. I pray, meditate and play with my two daughters. That seems to ground me. I too am to “young” to be diagnosed with such a horrible disease. Young or old, not one of us deserves this disease. But yet here we all are; all here together at this time and place. We deserve each other. We need each other. Bless all of you and live and love. Peace to you and your family.

In peace,

Jeff

Welcome Oct18 to the group. I am a caregiver to my husband who just turned 44yo last year when he was diagnosed with stage 4 pca. Like you, we have 3 kids and he is the only breadwinner in the family as well. I am doing some sidelines, doing business selling stuff just so I can help with the finances since we dont have insurance here.

But no matter how difficult our lives have gotten these days, Im just thankful that like yourself, my husband has been very very positive and faithful with the Lord. He is the strongest person I know for I have not seen him shed a tear except when he see me cry as he worries about me. So I try to not cry in front of him anymore. He still go to work everyday even at times when he doesnt feel very well from SE of the medicines (zytiga, pred, xgeva, eligard).

So i really do believe that staying positive, prayerful along with exercise, healthy diet, enough rest, does help a lot in fighting this horrible horrible disease! Its true that what the mind can conceive, the body can achieve!

All the best to you and prayers for continued healing for everyone here.

Prayers to you and your family as well for healing and peace. Being dx with C presents a whole new world, one no one ever wants. Having faith and a supporting family is such a big help.
