Zytiga works by blocking mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids, and Androgens and Estrogens. Prednisone makes up for the glucocorticoids but why is there no therapy given for the mineralocortoids which upsets the sodium and potassium balance. This leads to a condition called hypoaldosteronism which leads to higher blood pressure.

Prednisone keeps the pituitary from making ACTH. If not prevented, ACTH would increase synthesis of mineralocorticoids, increasing blood pressure and fluid retention and decreasing potassium.

You probably already know this if your doctor was good: stay away from herbal remedies, grapefruit juice, and multivitamins with a lot of different ingredients because they can conflict with Zytiga and cause liver damage.
