Help narrowing down NYC oncologists

Hello PCa warriors and supporters,

I'm writing here for my dad (19-year PCa survivor, since January 2015 he's been metastatic with 3-4 lesions to the bones and lymph node involvement around the left kidney). He's been doing great since that January, we started seeing Dr. Charles Myers and long story short: he's been <0.006 for two years now, while continuing on Lupron+Avodart+Zytiga+Metformin+Statins+Xgeva. SIde effects are no joke, but overall he's glad to be where he is, and hopes this protocol will keep working for a bit more.

But, Myers retired in 2017, he recommended Dr. Ferrari at Rutgers, who was also wonderful, but she also has stopped seeing patients at this moment.

So, we're facing the dilemma of moving to a new oncologist in 2019. We've narrowed the list to the "usual suspects" in NYC: Dr. Morgan at Sloan, Dr. Tagawa at NYU, Dr. Oh at Sinai, and Drake at Columbia.

We would love to switch to an oncologist who is easy to talk to, and who thinks both inside and outside the box (my dad felt great and hopeful about the future when he interacted with Myers and Ferrari, they were incredible in answering his questions and making him feel like a human being).

Any suggestions, from personal experiences or otherwise, would be profoundly appreciated (please feel free to DM me as well, if you prefer).

Thanks,

Arthut

I highly recommend Dr. OH. He is treating several Dr. Myers patients, Including myself. All of us are very comfortable with him. He listens, is easy to talk to, and he thinks both inside and outside the box. Truly a rare find! I feel very fortunate to have found him. Excellent doctor! Excellent staff!

I was treated by Dr Phillip Kantoff at Dana Farber. He is now at MSK in NYC.

@Windston40 and Joeym1040 Thank you so much for your suggestions. It's good to hear that we've got choices, now we just have to pic one of those docs and dive in :)

My oncologist Dr. Michael Morris at MSKcc in New York City. Kimmel Center East 68 Street near First Avenue in Manhattan. Here is short dated (January 2016) MSKcc video of him. Very Smart and great bedside manners. Note, I do not get paid for this endorsement.
