Lupron shot

My guy is getting his second lupron shot today. The first one was for three months. I don't remember any side effects from the shot. I think this second shot is a 6 month shot. He is currently on zytiga, prednisone and monthly zometa. Should we expect any initial side effects from today's shot? If so, what are the side effects?

Thanks in advance!

Got my 2nd Lupron shot earlier this month. No new or different side effects from the first one for me. Good luck!

If he hasn’t had any hopefully he won’t.. Still early stage with Lupron.

Fatigue-hot flashes-mood swings just a few that he is luckily missing.. Hope this continues and that life remains joyful for you both.. it’s s long bumpy road . Best of luck

He is having the hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, etc. These SE seemed to start after he began taking zytiga. I am hoping that this second shot doesn't add to the current side effects... Any idea???

These are all pretty common place side effects for Lupron. second shot probably just more of the same.. With time he can adjust . We learn to live with it.. all part the show...

I’ve been doing 6 month Lupron shots for over 3 years...no side effects other than some soreness at the injection site for a few days.

Yes, he was very sore last night... the first shot was in the arm and he had no problem...

I had my very first one in the stomach, but it caused a tender bump that rubbed against my belt and the waistband of my pants. Since then, I’ve had them stick me in the butt. Much easier to tolerate, and less painful.

The other side effects he is experiencing are likely associated with any type of ADT, including Zytiga + prednisone. I have the same side effects from bicalutamide. The Lupron shots shouldn’t cause a significant increase (if any) to the side effects he is already experiencing from the Zytiga. The good news (if you can call it that) is that you sort of get used to them over time. My hot flashes aren’t nearly as frequent or severe as they were at first. The night sweats are still pretty much a nightly thing, but not the soaking kind I used to get. And the fatigue can be minimized to some extent with diet and exercise. But I still have days where I need a nap. It’s OK to do that. He may also likely experience a loss of muscle mass and buildup of abdominal fat.

Best wishes to you both. 😎

To MiHombre from MiGringo:

My experience has been slight hot flashes when I first began my lupron injections. Now I don't have any issues except a bit of soreness at the injection site. I keep asking them to inject me in my ear lobe so I can wear my wife's earrings.

Good Luck, Good Health and Good Humor.
