I have dealt with nightly incontinence despite oxybitnin and flomax. I have conducted a very interesting experiment with my cpap machine, when I sleep with it on 99% of the time it's a bone dry night, when I go to sleep and forget or just go to sleep without putting it on, its guaranteed 100% of the time i have a waterworks display in my bed , it's become very simple to wear my sleep mask or wake up soaked. Has anybody else experienced this. I mean it's amazing 16 nights without my mask equals 16 wet nights.
2 years since robotic radical prostec... - Advanced Prostate...
2 years since robotic radical prostectomy. Dr Lowe portland or. Constant battle with incontinence. Until now!.
Trying to find a logical connection- with the Cpap maybe you are too far "under" to generate a signal to pee. You would appear to need the Cpap to get quality sleep. Maybe restless sleep is too close to the external stimulants needed for the desire to pee.
What's flawed with that theory is I do get a signal, because I awake, and go pee. Through out the night. I believe my sleep is more restful and less herky jerky, so maybe it's more of a deep sleep, perhaps more meaningul. I know deep sleep would make you believe you are not waking for anything. Deep on a different level. Thank you for your input.
this is really interesting! I don't have a CPAP but I do think there may be some connection (based on my somewhat different experience after an RP) with restless sleep and incontinence
I am scheduled for robotic surgery Nov 14. I have been using a CPAP machine for the past 2 years, and have been considering asking my Dr to get off it since I have been on a diet and have lost 27 lbs so far. I had been told that my excess weight contributed to my need for the machine. Now I am having second thoughts based on your experience. I have been getting avge 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep without having to go to the bathroom.
Hoping..since you have your surgery in about 2 plus months you are a lot like I was when I had my robotic surgery. I was diagnosed in March and had surgery in June 2016. I'm just wanting to know if anybody told you about Kegel exercises? I did those for the two and a half months before my surgery. I had my surgery and came home with the catheter. 7 days Later I had the catheter removed. From the moment it was removed I kept waiting for something to go wrong. Wore a diaper home thinking I was going to drip and drop everywhere. Nothing. Went to bed with just my underwear that night. Since then maybe just maybe I'll get a drip but that's it. Can't say that it was the kegels. But I still have that sphincter that I can draw in and out because of the Kegel. just throwing it out there that maybe you might want to do those two or three times a day till your surgery. Might help with the incontinence (or NO incontinence!) Best of luck to you on your journey.
Thanks, I will definitely start kegel exercises. I am currently also on hormone therapy with Eligard, Zytiga & Prednisone, I will be getting Xgeva in addition. I am in a clinical trial that is researching effectiveness of surgery with standard of care hormone therapy.
Have our doctor prescribe imipramine. However, I am not sure how a Cpac would interact with it.
Could be you're putting the Cpac over the wrong head.
Good luck and Good Health.
