Hello to the wonderful men (and women!) out there, I’ve become acquainted with several of you on here & you've been most helpful, insightful & kind! Today I’m curious as to if any of you’ve experienced pancreatitis (during or after treatments, etc.), and how it impacted your cancer treatment plans. My dad’s in the hospital due to pancreatitis but he has yet to have anything but a Firmagon shot. (Prostate was removed 1 yr ago.) He was scheduled to speak to a radiologist oncologist next week, but now this happened. A gall stone & fatty liver are probably to blame, but his bilirubin levels are very high & actually increased during the night. I’ve been reading, and I don’t think Firmagon is linked to a pancreas attack, so I’m betting on bad luck & past alcohol consumption. I guess I’m concerned because now, which is worse... a chronically inflammed pancreas that calls for gall bladder removal (which delays radiation treatments), or, aggressive metastatic prostate cancer (that is in dire need of more treatments.) As of now, various drs are knocking heads & there’s no definite course of action here. Here’s to, I hope, a day filled with small accomplishments & some cheer for all of you reading this! Positive thoughts!

Hey Heida, my Dad is a bone met PCa. He had open heart valve repair surgery years ago and had half of his pancreas and whole spleen removed. He is an alcohol drinker, I'm forcing him to stop and quit. We found out only last week that his rib has bone met PCa. He goes on all regular checks, and two prostate biopsies detected nothing. I have alot of "What If" on my head if it was being detected years ago.
But what we got to do now is to give them the best moral support as we can, and giving them positive thoughts. Its going to be a tough fight, but we got to support our dads through this. I've been sharing stories of all these comments of patients who are warriors of survivors. They're very helpful, it gives encouragement. You are not alone, I will pray for your dad!
Thank you for sharing! How is your dad handling everything now? He is lucky to have you rooting for him! It sounds like you are doing your best & supporting him from afar (if I read your other post correctly.) Stay strong & we can lean on each other! You know where to find me. xoxo 🙏🏼🌺🌼 ~ heidi
its hard for me since I'm living half a globe away, but I try my best by contacting them via whatsapp often, and I make it necessary and make time to skype with my parents every morning after breakfast and night time before they head to bed. We have to wait for 3 months to see results, as that's how the injection works. I am praying hard hoping everything is working. We got to stay strong! You are absolutely right!
If not for the imperfect modern medicine most of us would not be here today. They didn’t do what they did to me 50yrs ago. If lucky we get pulled back from that precipuse back into a tolerable existence. We must all make a choice to suffer as we must in order to live another day. Besides the pain and suffering involved APC this will snuff out our lights if we let it go wild . Truthfully every human will come to that point in the end. I don’t believe that is near for neither him or me at his point. I hope his tremendous pain is fleeting and will fly away soon. A major test for you also. Whatever things that you know that he loves. Give them to him. Not anything bad, but movies , hook him up with the music he loves or food. Anything to lift the spirits. Our prayers are with you in the heat of this battle... God bless!
I’m sorry he’s in the hospital. A lot of pain it sounds like.Serious issue the pancreas. Its so much to take in. Don’t overload yourself. You’re there for him that’s 99% of it just being there. I pray he gets out of there soon. The pain has to be dealt with. My bro had pancreatitis .I read what the dr gave hinm . 80% due to alcohol abuse. My bro has drank since he was 10 non stop and now he’s 62. Still drinking. Alcohol = sugar, he should cut all sugar. Once he’s out of hosp then you start 5he recovery plan . It will take awhile. No cake walk my dear. If you have confidence in his drs , you mus follow someone good because of the pancreatic problem. Wow! Please accept my paise for your love for him. He’s not alone.. Peace in your heart,, family pays when they care.. for a suffering loved one. God bless you!
That photo is spectacular like two movie stars.......haven’t heard from you .. anything new? How is he???
Hi! Thanks for asking about my dad! He’s currently in Minnesota at Mayo getting a 2nd opinion. He’s feeling okay. The pancreatitis subsided but his liver is in bad shape. He received another hormone shot & I think he wants to get more info before pursuing radiation. How are you doing? How are the days unfolding? We are seeing more days with sun so that’s a good thing. (Haha, the photo has a filter on it, and my youngest daughter & I were being silly.🤪😀) Thank you for checking in!
