I am new here and started hormone therapy

I am 59 years old and had my prostate (PSA) test done in the fall of 2016. It came back at 40, after a biopsy found the Gleason score to be 4 + 3 (7). I had a Prostectomy at the end of May 2017. The surgeon was sure it was contained and that they got all the cancer out. After healing up for 7 weeks they did another PSA test which should have came back at or near 0, mine came back at 73 (this was higher that before surgery). After a CT scan and a bone scan they found the cancer had spread to his bones, liver and lungs. My cancer was also rated at 9 out of 10 in aggressiveness. I was devastated! The Dr's prescribed hormone therapy (Leuprolide) and I had my 1st injection on August 24th 2017. A few people had told me about Cannabis and I proceeded to get his Medical Cannabis card and started on the oil on September 5th. On November 23rd my PSA test came back at less than .1

Is it usual for the PSA score to fall that fast.

I don't think a fast drop at the beginning is unusual. As for the Cannabis I would use straight oil with as much THC as you can tolerate. Indica strain will help you with sleep...go easy at first. It should come in a syringe... put a drop or two on a little piece of bread. Make sure you don't have to drive or much of anything else for a few hours.

thanks for the info. I did 70 gr. ofcannabis oil over 3 months.Thcwas 77% and cbd was 44%. I sure needed the sleep and rest that the cannabis provided.

Somewhat same story.. tests all showed contained and removable , but during surgery, doc knew we were in trouble. No defined margins and lymph nodes looked bad and were removed, 6 weeks later psa from 52 up to 62. Wrong way move just like yours....started lupron and 4 week later down to 6.5. Started Taxotere. after 3rd dose PSA down to 0.264. Now finished #5 and still getting about 25% drop every 3 weeks. Now 0.197. Normally 6 treatments and a break....doc has agreed with me to continue past 6 to 8 or 10 if I can stand the side affects and still showing reductions in markers....Agree, hit it hard from all directions possible as soon as possible....No cannabis oil for me while working as a railroad engineer.....keep up the fight and stay with us here....

It is good that He had such a fast drop in psa to what they call undetectable, this is a good prognostic factor. I wish you the best.

Welcome to the group. Sounds like you’ve had a great response. In answer to your question, many have a dramatic drop as you have. As Dan says, it is a good sign for long term outlook, too. Mine was 227 at diagnosis, dropped to 9 the first month, and then undetectable in 4-months.

Feel free to ask other any questions you may have. Someone here will either have the answer or has dealt with a similar issue or concern. We are all here for each other!

For hot flahes i have megestrol also known as Magace 20mg. Knocks them right down to nothing

in reply to Tjc1

I've heard some not-nice things about Megace -- that it can promote the cancer. I'm not a doctor.

I am so glad to hear a positive outcome with cannabis oil along with the hormone shot,I have been taking cannabis oil as one of my protocols, I have read negative remarks about it but I have done so much research to convince myself to make it one of my protocols along with my doctor's advice doing Hormone therapy, and radiation, it is my belief that we have to attack the cancer in more ways then one. I don't know how my situation is at this time, I am three quarters in to my radiation treatments and doing Lupron and casodex, along with cannabis oil, and CBDoil .one to one. I actually wrote a message to Dennis Hill about me doing cannabis oil and hormone therapy . I wanted to know if there was any kind of negative outcome by doing both and to my surprise he wrote back and said that doing the cannabis oil will make my immune system stronger and work better with hormone and radiation therapy. I read about him and his amazing story about how he stopped his prostate cancer by doing the cannabis oil only , I wouldn't do that , I will always believe we have to hit it hard, by using all the protocols we can that cancer does not like. even changing our diet and lifestyle can be a plus.

I will get a ct scan after the radiation treatments and then I will know for sure if it all worked, and I wouldn't say that the cannabis oil did it but hitting it hard in all directions what worked.

Please Ken let's stay in touch because the both us using cannabis oil and other protocols we can learn more about the oil and how it works with other protocols.

God Bless

Robert

Hello Ken, No I didn't have the surgery, I was going to and I started to have panic attacks about it so I opt for the external radiation to my pelvic area, I am high risk at 4+4 gleason but I had only one core of my prostate positive , my PSA is less then 1 at the moment. bone and ct scan showed no movement from my prostate 2 months before the Lupron shot & Casodex. then waited 2 more months for the radiation treatments. now at 3/4 ways through that , the whole time from the time I had my biopsy and was confirmed to have prostate cancer at a early stage I started to consume cannabis oil because it seemed to me the doctors don't move as fast as I would like them to maybe I'm wrong but I thought my only thing that I can do personally to help me in my journey of fighting this disease. with all the evidence coming out about cannabis in all forms made me realize there is something I can do on my own while dealing the doctors and the slow process they follow , like I mentioned I wouldn't do the cannabis alone like Dennis Hill did. its like the doctors are giving me three different protocols to follow at this moment, so that is my advice to myself and any body, is to hit it hard with as many protocols as you can. I did recently added CBD one to one too.

Thank you can for your reply Ken

God Bless

Robert

Dennis is still doing well, he responded to me as well! Maybe you don't know but he had sort of 6 months hormone shots. How are you doing? Greetings,

Hi KenDuchek

I am a high grade Advanced PCa survivor since 27.11.17. Currently I still have a stent on my right ureter. I am being staged just last week after finalising all my PSMA CT and Nuv Med Bone scans. I am on Stage 4 T4 N2-3 M2-3.

Do I look depressed. It does make be ponder. But what the doctor say aggressive and systematic cancer provides me a big window of opportunity to work on my cancer treatment in a systematic way. Look up my post. I am on 10 days of my treatment and I am feeling great. Good quality in live and able to perform sex. I will be in touch

Hi. I am also new here. My cancer was identified July 1 this year. My PSA was 104.77 on July 3 and was 2.65 and dropping a few weeks ago. Money has spread to my spine, pelvis, and ribs. Just had a second scan and all was holding. So seems good for both of us for now.

By the way, my doctor at MD Anderson in Houston told me that cannabis interacts with Zitiga. Not sure if you are on it. I am.

Yes with Androgen Deprivation Therapy it will bring your psa down very fast. Did they not do a ct and bone scan before surgery? I was diagnosed with PCa with psa at 44 and also with gleason 4+ 3. The first thing they did after the biopsy was a ct and bone scan before proceeding with any treatment.

Seems like the PCa might have escaped the prostate which makes surgery not an option. Such as me.

I would ask a lot of questions

New studies have shown that surgery to debulk the main tumor helps reduce the severity and timing of metastasis since the main tumor continues to put out PCa into our system.

I had mine out and was found to be very high risk ( see my profile) . After 4 1/2 years I’ve had very few mets , which I’ve treated , and I am I’m doing well.
