So sorry that you are here but you can look far and wide and never find a better group of men and women. Sorry about the infection. In some ways I hated the biopsy more than the surgery.

You stated that you were Gleason 4+4 (I am also). Hopefully you also had CT/bone scans to see if the cancer has spread. The Lupron and Zytiga is the new treatment for locally advanced cancer. I am glad you are on it.

You listed you G score and initial PSA from last summer. How are you doing now? In addition to hormonal treatments what other therapies are you considering? There are a lot of options available to you. Even if the cancer has spread to the pelvic area you are still a good candidate for surgery. (My cancer had spread to the pelvic lymph nodes but they still operated.)

Thanks for reply. PSA now 2.65. yes, it had spread to ribs, pelvis, and spine. Been to University of Colorado and MD Anderson. Surgery not an option. Yes, the infection was really bad, five nights in hospital and sepsis. But doing very well now. New granddaughter born in the midst of the fires on Wednesday in Ventura. I am here in the smoker but leaving California tonight. She is a blessing. Again thank you. It had been a rough few months.

Feel for you pardner. I also spent five days with sepsis alternating two different IV antibiotics. One in a thousand they told me almost 15 years ago....

Yes, sepsis. Four antibiotics, then two, then finally one for two weeks. But doing very well now. PSA now 2.65. unfortunately it has metastasized to spine, ribs, and pelvis. New granddaughter on Wednesday in fires of Ventura. She is great. Thanks for reply.

I got 5 years out of Lupron, Xgeva ( for bone mets) and Zytiga and Prednisone with few side effects---now on Xtandi. So there should be a excellent prognosis for you if Zytiga kicks in! Best to you!

Wow! I respect your journey through this disease. I had 30 radiations in 2011 (on top of 42 in 2007). I guess the radiation hit my intestine and e-coli were throughout my body. So temperature went to 106 degrees and went to the hospital where I receive Rocephin Injections every 12 hours for 2 weeks, then daily as an outpatient. The only thing was that I had 3 more weeks of radiation left at my urologist's office. So I would leave the hospital, get my radiation, and drive back to the hospital. I am doing fine now and I have PSA of 0.00 for 7 years.

Yes, me fever was 103 and I felt horrible. Can't imagine you with 106. I had a nurse coming giving me an in drip thru a port for ten days after I got home. Missed a month of work but still there now six months later. Having a good life now and will make the most of it.
