Hi My Husband was diagnosed 13 years ago on the 1st march 2006, his first treatment was HT plus RT since then he had been on and off hormones up until last year when they stopped working. He has bicumalitide added to his zoladex inj but that didn't work at all and his PSA went up to 29.5. Tony stared chemo at the end of Oct last year, he has had 5 out of a possible ten treatments and after the 4th his PSA had gone down to 3.5 He has had a few bad times with the chemo but not too bad.

Welcome to the group. I am on Zoladex too and recently finished six rounds of chemo. The chemo certainly knocked my body down for a few days each round but, overall, I didn't find it too bad either. I hope it works well for your husband. My PSA is holding at around 0.3.

That's a good result hope it stays low for a long long time, Tony's PSA was 19 when he was diagnosed and after his first line of treatment was down to almost zero, since then for the first 12 years he has been on and off zolodex, just stayed on it every time it went up above 2 then as soon as it went down to almost zero came off it again unfortunately it stopped working last year so he is still on it but chemo as well.

he was 61 when diagnosed now 74, his PSA went up to 26 in oct last year that is why he is now on chemo, was 3.5 at last reading so hopefully it will stay low he is having a scan next month to see what is happening inside, only expected him to have between 5 and 10 years so to have got to 13 years is amazing, he also has ckd (chronic kidney disease) stage 5 and up until the chemo he was not really unwell at all.

There are still some other ADT drugs for him to try, Aboratorone and Xtandi just to mention two of them. You should ask his doctor.

tony has had biculamatide with his zoladex when his psa started to rise rapidly last year, this did not do anything so was taken off it and went on to chemo, if this stops working then he will probably be put on something else eg arbiterone, the trouble is his kidneys as he is at end stage renal disease and is likely to be on dialysis in the near future.

There are two articles in the NIH database that may of interest to you. They concern Zytiga and kidney disease:

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/255...
