I did chemo round six last monday. PSA is at 0.03. Perfect. All lab markers show that my stage 4 cancer is in check. But unexpectedly, my original back pain which resolved with chemo is back. Its back for the first time in months, and so far its lasted 5 days. Along with it im now having twitches in my stomach muscles. MO says my cancer is in check and sometimes things will move around in my back. And says the twitches are from steroids - but was suprised the twitches werent spasms that hurt. So im worried that despite PSA of 0.03, cancer is spreading in my back and these twitches are related to spine compression. My PSA at dx was 11 with extensive mets, but 2 month before it was below 4. So my cancer may be the negative PSA type. Anyone else have tjis stomach muscle twitching?

Stomach muscles twitching?
I have no experience with your symptoms, but I have an idea that may help. There are a number of different kinds of scans that can give you information about the state of your back without relying on PSA. An MRI or even a simple back x-ray might reveal the nature of a back problem. Bone scans and PET scans might also do the job. You'd need to talk to a doctor who knows this stuff (a radiologist? a neurologist? a neurosurgeon? or just a medical oncologist?) to find out what the best, simplest or most available scan might be.
Best of luck.

I thought I was hallucinating. Since doing chemo,I have had ...during and afterwards, weird stomach muscle twitching...so you're not alone. They are becoming less frequent it seems...now 3 months past chemo..
p.s. I have no mets to spine at all.
I have the muscle spasms after steroids from chemo, it can last a week sometimes, but I do not always get them. It is like a cramp, it does hurt, but It does go away. I think the steroid use is probally right. I would suggest you celebrate your excellent response and stop worrying about negative psa, and compression fractures, You will know if you have a compression fracture, not to much like a muscle spasm. I wish you the. Best!
