It sounds like you've had a terrific response to Xtandi. I hope it goes on and on.
I read somewhere that the diabetes drug, metformin, can work reduce resistance to Xtandi, making Xtandi more effective. I don't know if that's worth doing now, but if and when your PSA begins to rise again you might be able to make the Xtandi work again by adding Metformin. If you have access to a really good PCa oncologist, he may know more about this and be able to advise you.
Best of luck.
Alan
Are you taking Lupron or degarilix with Xtandi or Zytiga. I'm 5 years out. I've been on Xtandi for 3 out of 5 years but I had to take Xtandi and Lupron together. Kevin
A very nice response to Xtandi, DrCrunch.
About 1 1/2 years ago I added Xtandi to on-going Lupron, shortly after doing Provenge, too, and my PSA at 4 months on Xtandi dropped from 95 to 5.0. It was another 6 months until it hit a new nadir of 1.2. Alk Phos values also dropped from the 70s to the 40s to the 20s. Current PSA is 1.8. I, too, have been pain free since original very painful symptoms and diagnosis 4 1/2 years ago with a PSA of 5,006. I am grateful for the relatively lucky biology.
