I am casodex 150 mg and avodart .5 mg and has been bouncing around between 3 and 5 for about a yr and a nurse told me about 5yr. doubling time. But now its been going up around .6 every month for the past 3 months. Psa is now 5,83. Had 3d conformal beam r.t. so i I still have a prostate and a high testosterone of 800. Wait another mo. Wanted exstandi next and my m.o doc. Said I can but with lupron which might not be a bad idea to crush it for another year.was even wishing psa rise might be just inflamation and go off everything to see..Afterall psa never went above 6 since and Iam 78yrs old . As usual the problem is What next. Thanks and cheers to all. Rocco

I'd be happy to calculate your PSA doubling time for you.

What is needed is a set of paired values:

(date1 : PSA1);

(date2 : PSA2);

(date3 : PSA3);

and so forth.

For example:

(13May2017 : PSA=5.83)

(11Apr2017 : PSA=5.26)

(14Mar2017 : PSA=4.64)

(12Feb2017 : PSA=4.31)

(10Jan2017 : PSA=4.24)

(09Dec2016 : PSA=4.31)

(14Nov2016 : PSA=4.19)

For best accuracy, provide exact dates; but if you don't have exact dates, a close approximation (e.g., "second week of March, or ?maybe? the third") is OK.

The more pairs of (date:PSA) values that you can supply, the more reliable the analysis.

Next time you talk to your Oncologist, you might ask about not just getting onto Lupron to get that high Testosterone down, but also the possible treatment Options that have come from the results of the CHAARTED and, just recently, the LATITUDE Clinical Trials.

If possible, maybe send an email or letter ahead of time, so that there is time to review these things, and to be prepared to discuss them during your appointment. You want to know your Options, .... ALL your Options, and not just a Standard of Care that might be 5 years out of date.

Thanks to everyons but what I mean is most of us dont know our actual doubling as it is masked by meds.. or just coming off them. As in my case the casodex is losing its effect or the pc is becoming refractive? Need a clearer post on this.
