Jus want to find out if anyone who has had docetaxel chemotherapy but not effective and then go on to cabaxitazel .. What is the outcome? Is this second line of chemo successful ? Will PSA go up and will it eventually go down? Or is PSA relevant anymore? Any cases? Many thanks!

Magling,

I am assuming that you failed chemotherapy and I am assuming that the drug used was docetaxel (taxotere)? Cabazitaxel (Jevtana), though it is also a taxel drug is different then docetaxel. Because you did not respond to docetaxel this does not automatically mean that you will not respond to cabazitaxel.

OSA remains your friend and is still the best biomarker we have to measure the condition of your cancer.

Many thanks Joel. From your knowledge what would be the next best line of treatment if cabaxitazel is not successful? Been on Zytiga for 9 months and it stopped working and hence onto to docetaxel - 8 cycles .. Had a break of 3 months .. Did a choline pet scan and it was not satisfactory and now had undergone 2 cycles of cabaxitazel .. Have scheduled for another scan at the end of this month .. Pray for good results from the good Lord ! Amen ..

Xtandi (enzaludamide) might still work, however for some men having had prior Zytiga could have caused some cross resistance. Only by trying it can you know,

If you fail both Cabazitaxel and then Xtandi then I would discuss with my doctor looking into the breast cancer world to see if there might be an off label chemotherapy that could be tried. Traditionally, at that time the move is to an older drug called Mitozantrone. In prostate cancer it will provide palliative effects.

For me Doxetaxol was more effective than Carbazitaxol. The first gave me over 12 months after treatment, Carbazitaxol stopped working about the 8th dose.

I find this very informative as I am being treated at this time for Metastatic prostate cancer. The Chemo drug is Docetaxel. I will have my 4th injection March 24, 2016 and then another April 14, 2016 then the last one on May 5, 2016 . I was to have 18 weeks of Chemo starting Jan 21, 2016. Hopefully this is going to work for me. I have to see a Urologist and he has put me on an antibiotic as he said I have an infection of the Prostate along with my cancer. This is the second time in the past 2 months I have been put on an antibiotic for this as I have trouble emptying my bladder. The infection seems to clear up and I have no problem with emptying my bladder.
