I started this medication back last Thursday so tomorrow will be a week. First day I felt very high, extremely focused didn’t sleep well at all for next 3 days, bit better Sunday and Monday; but feel really weird, like I am slow looking in on my body as in out of body. I take it every day at 630am, first 3 to 4 hours are ok as super focused but around midday I am zoned out want to go to bed. Please tell me this a normal reaction, trying to eat more protein but really don’t feel like eating much so forcing the issue. Just worried about work as I am 44 and managed to struggle through work wise, home wise not so much. Any tips as don’t go off work sick?

Hi...I was silsr at first...these are just the common side effects...ive Been on it for 4yrs and now I sleep OK, My appetite is normal and I don't get over stimulated...if it persists then I would recommend asking for a smaller dose

I was similar to this when I started it too but it settled down fairly quickly. I was still having a 'crash' mid afternoon after a few weeks, so the doctor suggested splitting the dose, so now I have 40mg in the morning and 20mg mid day and that works really well for me... Might be worth a try.

I have two suggestions

1) Are you taking the extended release dose? It sounds like it’s wearing off half way through your work day so you could either take it later in the morning or (more likely) take a booster (either of this med or another non-ER fill in like plain Ritalin) at lunch. It does take a week or two to “settle down” so if after 2 weeks you still feel over-hyped maybe reduce dose overall.

2) This is the generic for Vyvanse and in my experience it’s a terrible generic. Although it costs me more out of pocket, I insist on name brand. My son also tried the generic and it made him angry and erratic. No bueno. Vyvanse is supposed to be known for its “smooth landing” whereas you seem to be experiencing crashing. If you can make it work with your insurance, try getting name brand Vyvanse. For me, generic adderall is better than the generic Vyvanse if I had to choose.

Good luck! Sounds like it’s working for you when it works!

Interesting. I had a similar experience with Concerta not Vyvanse (LISDEXAMFETAMINE) and for me the exhaustion only got worse, not better. I had to stop it. Crazy how we are all so different and react differently to meds. The really interesting thing is I've tried name brand Vyvanse and generic (lisdexamfetamine) and have had VERY different experiences with them. Are you on generic or name brand? I would try the other if I were you. I'm the minority in that name brand caused me so many horrible side effects and the generic worked a tiny bit better. Most people are the opposite. But my issue is now I'm getting more side effects after being on 40mg of lisdexamfetamine and trying to figure out what to do. I'm getting the fatigue really bad in the afternoon. I didn't have that at all before. I have always slept great on lisdexamfetamine. Better than normal. Weird. What dose are you on? I can't remember if you said. Sorry. My focus is not great on this medication.
