I have bipolar disorder and I’m told that meds for adhd can trigger mania. Does anyone have any advice or experience with this issue?

Meds for ADHD can make you sleep less hours. Lack of sleep can trigger manic episodes. Sleep is important.

stimulant meds can raise enlightenment some as it gives us more of a dopamine boost. Maybe start with a non stimulant just in case.

Be certain you have Bipolar as I believe there have been many diagnoses made that were actually adhd…listen to episodes 44 and 45 of adhd for smart ass women. I’m also an RMN and see this happen on the wards….there still isn’t enough understanding of it…apologies if it is plainly obvious you do have bipolar and I’ve spoken completely out of term!

Thank you for your reply Greebeeps yes unfortunately I do have bipolar but I’m very interested to no about your RMN and how it manifests itself in you, because I want to know more about it

RMN…Registered Mental Health nurse…sorry for the confusion…although you could say there are many effects of this job that have manifested in me!!! That’s for sure 😃

I don’t know why but I was thinking of RSD when you wrote RMN
