I'm also on a few Facebook and Discord groups, which are listed in my bio, but I use my real name on FB and a different pseudonym on Discord.
I spend the most time here on this forum and almost as much time on Facebook.
For a little while, a few other men on this site and I were trying to get an accountability group going, but our schedules didn't match up very well for video calls.
I am open to private chat on this site.
I live in rural western New York state. Even though the proportion of people with ADHD is the same here as everywhere, there are no meetups. (I'd have to drive to Buffalo or Rochester, and that's a bit far for me right now. I've been here almost two years, and am still getting to know the area.)
Cool. Ya I joined a few FB groups for ASD and ADHD as much as I had kept off that Platform for 3.5 years. I am on Discord but that isn't one I frequent either..
That's too bad regarding the accountability group! Would have been nice to have one, hopefully in the future if there are enough people there may be a chance to make one! 😁
😁 Good to know and well I think we have chatted. 😉
Ah..ok. .Ya I wont' say that I know the New York State like the back of my hand yet I do know that those are far from each other..and well that is just too bananas to do.
It would be nice if there was a local group here..yet it doesn't seem so.. Silly really as it could be a great thing to do for many.
Ya I belong to many and I have had to cut down, also I have started to unfollow pages b/c my gosh..my BRAIN!! It overwhelms me soo much since they also changed things on FB..it feels 'loud' and gives me a TON of anxiety..how they changed it up..
I get that. It is definitely different than it used to be. Companies in general want to catch the eye, but don’t really care that they are affecting ND people this way. They just want the grab.
I do not but I would love to. My interest are random so it’s hard to connect with others. I’m trying to scale down on other platforms. I’ve nixed Instagram and Facebook. Now I’m down to instagram and I think that’s good for me!
I understand. And you know what? At least from my view..I feel/think having random interests is what makes you wonderfully you, even though I empathetically understand the challenge to connect with others. It does not take away that factor.
Ya, I understand the need to scale down on other platforms.. I have had to myself.
FB changed and when I get on it..it's 'too loud' aka 'too busy' and it hurts my head and gives me MASSIVE anxiety..I haven't actually voiced that before so thank you for bringing it up.
IG is easier I find, yet still, you can go down the rabbit hole if you are looking for something specific.. I do know that I also want to cut down on the amt of people I follow..it's a matter of going through BOTH accounts..It's DANG overwhelming!
Sooo true! I follow sports and K-pop so my feeds are never ending. By the time I would catch up on Twitter, something new would pop up on Insta. Then I’d have to see if the same info was on Twitter and it would go on forever. It was a nice break from work but, like you said, DANG!
LOL @ rechecking the sources over multiple platforms. I feel you on this!
MMHHHMM.. 'break' from work..while we overstimulate our minds to see what going on in the world..to only continue to let the stress hormones surge in our systems.. lol.. Oh the irony!
