Any post-menopausal women out there? My symptoms of ADD -for me it’s really MDD motivation deficit disorder, have gotten much worse over the past couple of years. I am looking to go on Hormone Replacement Therapy- was wondering if anyone has experienced this and did it help?

I might suggest talking with your psychiatrist about the motivation issues you are experiencing. There are many co-morbidities of ADHD which can peek out at particularly challenging points in our lives. Postmenopause certainly falls in such a category. I have co-morbidities of depression and anxiety with my ADHD and treatment for those has made a huge impact on how I am able to function day to day.

As for the hormone replacement therapy, I don't have any experience or knowledge. I am hopeful you can find relief from your symptoms soon tho!

I’m 72, well past menopause. For the past few years I thought my ADHD had gotten much worse. I was recently, finally diagnosed with ME CFS, and now realize that the ME (brain inflammation) is the cause of what I thought was worsening ADHD .

Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroid can cause lethargy! I would definitely request a full thyroid work up before starting HRT. There are risks with hormone replacement.

Also, do you need more D3? Do you take Magnesium?

I have my bloodwork done twice a year now. No indicators of thyroid issues. I take vitamin D, magnesium, vitamin B and a bunch of other things. I have researched HRT. There was a period of time when they thought that HRT led to a greater risk of heart disease (which may have been your time period). However that study has since been deemed faulty. A lot of research has gone into it, and it is now deemed very safe. Thank you for your concern though! I do appreciate it. 😊

I will look up ME CFS. I’m glad that you have found more relief!

You’re thorough! I hope HRT helps!

Most doctors don’t want to deal with ME CFS because they don’t know how to treat it. Like you, like all of us, I’m doing my own research!
