Looking for my people

Im 51 years old and just have been diagnosed with ADHD. I always felt different but in my head I thought it was Autism . I had never been diagnosed. I met someone a little over a year ago and in two days she told me i was ADHD. She hounded me until I finally went to get help , assessment. Yes there it was Doctors telling me she was right .I've been told by a counselor that I need to find my people before my official diagnosment because I have never fit in . I didn't know who or where to find them but I believe its here . People that are like me. I'm having a pretty rough time .Well to be honest my girlfriend is too. We love each other but need help dealing with this. From what I've read so far it seems this may be where to start . I truly need a coach or mentor ,I really don't know if that exits . Does anyone have any suggestions ? THANKS !

I'm here! 👋 👋 👋 I have ADD or ADHD. I still don't know exactly. We think differently, it's almost maddening. You're safe here.

You'll meet people from all over.

What are you having a rough time with?

Sending hugs!

I've always had a very hard time with people misunderstanding my meaning in conversations, especially when I am going along with the jokingly ribbing of someone you are close to, but they don't get offended with others, but with me they take things too seriously, I think it's because they don't expect it from me, and they think I am always serious, when I am just kidding as well as others are. It makes me feel not welcome in the conversation and like the world considers me a creep or weirdo. It's just so hard to find my place in this world. Especially when the world needs to slow down and stop and smell the roses more often and enjoy the little things that truly make this life worth living instead of being a slave to the man. NOW WHERE IS THE DAMN SEND BUTTON ON THIS APP ANYWAYS. You would think if these smart phones were so darn smart they would respond to voice commands and get it right for a change.

Oh jeez lol I understand. You've got a different sense of humor it seems. My daughter is the same way.

But, I'm am an odd one and have no friends bc of some of the same reasons.

We just need to keep trying. Have you found anything useful on YouTube? There's a wealth amount of resources there for everything and everyone. That's what I do.✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
