My Dr will transition my Lexapro generic to Cymbalta. I also take buproprian and adderall.
Cymbalta may help with my back nerve pain.
Has anyone had any experience with this or any other chronic pain relief?
Thank you
Leslie

I have a friend that took Cymbalta, Adderall and Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen (Norco). They worked well for her. She no longer takes Adderall due to high blood pressure. She also gets injections and has her nerves burned to help manage her pain. . She is 70 and has had several surgeries.
It is Always best to read the drug incert that comes with each bottle of medication from the manufacturer. Put the Name Of The Manufacturer in Google. Go to their website they should have the Prescription Information For Healthcare Professionals on their website. It is very long and can get complicated. Scroll to the sections that says Contraindications, Side Effects. There is no way all of the side effects of drugs can be listed in the information the pharmacy gives patients. You can also ask your pharmacist for this insert. Unfortunately, some will not give it to patients because they think it scares them and they will not take the prescribed medication.
Duloxetine (generic name for Cymbalta) sometimes helps nerve pain in some people. It’s a serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, as opposed to Lexapro, which only affects serotonin. Duloxetine can sometimes help both depression, anxiety, and nerve pain. I hope that is helpful.
thank you for your explanation. I am starting to realize that the arthritis and back degenerating stenosis and scoliosis is to be managed, not cured. I am going to chart my pain, my specific activity (and how long I can do it) like walking the dog, standing at the sink .sitting in the zero gravity chair. And what rx I take for it that day, Mindfullness meditation and creative times and I look to see stamina and increased walking and standing time .
I look forward to getting back to the joy.

Yes! I've been taking Cymbalta (Duloxetine) for about six years to relieve neuropathy in my feet from chemotherapy. It doesn't make it go away, but it sure makes it manageable. It also stabilizes my mood since it is an antidepressant, and might help a bit with the ADHD. This is the only one of nine drugs we tried to treat ADHD which didn't give me TD side effects. I hope you have a good result!
So Leslie, Hi I am Nicki! Cymbalta works! I have been on Cymbalta on & off for a decade or more now.
One thing that I want to stress to you dear is: do NOT let yourself ever run out. If you are getting low, for example, it’s a holiday weekend & the pharmacy won’t be open for two days in a row…. Plan ahead. Stop taking as frequently right away & spread them out over the time you have to wait it out.
Adderral magnifies pain, in my experience. It really does. I was on Adderrall for years as well. It intensifies everything. Helps you focus for sure, but if u suffer from chronic pain, you’ll be super focused on your pain!
Cymbalta is a good choice. I hated Buproprion. It made me feel like my brain was being zapped by electricity.
Best thing I ever did was go completely off of everything & reassess! I worked with my psychiatrist & therapist & just started fresh. Removing the stimulant from my everyday life changed everything for me. I miss it everyday though.
Buspirone for anxiety is the bomb! Once it builds up in your system… girl my anxiety was nearly all knocked out.
Good luck & God Bless 💋
Thank you Nickinik777,
Your advice on planning carefully to not run out is very helpful. I’m being more cognizant too of not focusing on the pain but keeping distractions like being in nature for a short time and having tea with a friend, it helps me get some distance and breaks the awareness of the pain taking over too much of my day
This is a good group to share their experiences . Thank you everyone
