My husband was diagnosed with ADHD a couple of years ago and has been taking Adderall to help manage it. He hasn't dived into learning about ADHD other than that yet, but it recently came to light that he has had a gambling addiction. Now that we are addressing that and hearing about the correlations that ADHD and addictions have, I feel we also really need to be considering his ADHD and learning all that we can about it.
If anyone has resources or experience specifically surrounding gambling and ADHD, I'd love to hear from you. Additionally, I'm finding that I need a spouse support group for myself. Please let me know if you have tips!

Perhaps he feels that learning would be redundant, since he's living it. It seemed to me to be like that at first. I thought learning about it would just mean reading about symptoms I am painfully aware of, since I experience them.
That point if view is wrong. But I'd say you need to approach this from an understanding of why he hasn't dived into learning about it.
Or... I find it a little intimidating the thought that I have to learn about something. I'll have to focus my mind on something i am not interested in. Behavioral addictions are avoidance behavior. I'm not saying he started gambling to avoid learning about ADHD, but the addiction does point to an avoidance tendency.
ADHD and addictions often go hand in hand . I am in two 12 step groups due to addictions and realize how my ADHD predisposed me to this . As for helping him- You cannot - suggest you try AL-ANON- it is a 12 step program for family members of alcoholics but works for those with other addictions - you are enablingh him if you are the one on this site you are finding out about ADHD but not him. Did you ask him why he is not learing about this and does he realize he has a gambling addiction ? does he admit it . Step 1 - we admitted we were powerless against__________ and our lives had become unmanageable
