Hi folks! Noob adhder here. Just diagnosed in Nov. anyone find a good online support group?! I feel pretty alone and don’t have anyone in my life who is diagnosed with ADHD. Hoping to find a weekly zoom meeting to connect and share stories with folks.

I'm newly diagnosed too (June 2021). I've done some research, but I haven't found any groups like this that aren't tied to expensive group coaching or therapy programs. You might try the /r/adhd subreddit for discussion with other folks in similar situation. Not quite the same thing, but it could help.

Thanks for connecting Bill. I have a pro zoom account, so I might just start hosting a weekly meetup and invite folks from this channel.

1) Someone here helped me tremendously a few months back by telling me about another large organization, ADDA ( website: add.org ) and that THEY have online video support groups, and not just one group, they have a whole array of them: add.org/adda-virtual-programs/ . I just attended my first last week and it was everything I was imagining and hoping it would be.

2) I recommend against reddit's /r/adhd because though it has a huge population of people posting regularly, I concluded last year after giving it a shot that there's a huge percentage of newbies (NOTHING AT ALL WRONG WITH THAT), but it's the community at large who reply. And I'm convinced that only maybe 15-25% of the user base of that forum have ever been exposed to the major neuroscience research of the past decade, or they're parroting their ADHD Psych or behavioral coach who are also operating from the obsolete notions of Childhood ADHD. ... There is value in expressing and sharing one's own story, which is kind of the bulk of what reddit offers, because you see just how many people are and have been struggling with the very same things you are, and that's a powerful and validating feeling.

3) With chadd, it's authoritative and research-based, but I think the far better platform for learning is ADDitude Magazine online. EXAMPLE: additudemag.com/is-adhd-her...

Almost all the questions you might have or ask about are for the most part covered, their content is up to date, and there are discussion comments.
