How can I manage adulting with adhd in the pandemic, and being a teacher ?
Hi. I know the feeling and teaching took a completely different twist in the pandemic. Please review if your systems are still relevant. You would have had coping mechanisms in place before the pandemic but they may need a change and you’ve not twigged. Review what you did before pandemic and WHY and then see if they still fit the current circumstance. If you need to tweak - do it before you’re back for new term. PRACTICE changes if you can and it will be easier to implement when at work (assuming you’re in UK). I had to change my eating times (I manage my carb intake as it screws with my head) my moving/walking times (scheduled them) and my clothing when working from home. When I went back on site, those systems had to change again. I hope you find what suits you!
I wish I could say that I can deal with a new boss, overcrowded classrooms, and my asthma exacerbation with ease, but it’s been difficult. I do need to review ways to manage my adhd without overreacting to its impact on my body’s systems. One key component of stress is the crazy transition from summer into an uptick in covid cases. I need to learn to roll with it more gracefully. Any suggestions or books, my dear?
I hope you had feedback for this and are doing ok. I don’t have specific books but I do review it. What happened? Why? What did I do? What is my REAL behaviour - not my intent? Then I accept and change to accommodate. I hope you have a chance to rest over the term break. This term is always the worst..
